THE INTERNATiOil1AL SERIES.
Text of- the Lesson, Comprehensive
Quarterly Review—Golden Text, John
vi, 63—Commentary Prepared by Rev.
D. M. Stearns.
LEssox L -Malignant unbelief, Mark
20-35. Golden Test, John til, 19,
"'This is the condemnation, that light
is come Into the world, and men loved.
darkness rather than light because
their deeds were evil." It seems to
me that the tails against Christ In our
day on the part of many religious peo-
ple is as bad as was that of the scribes
in this lesson. May the word and the
wilt of God be so dear to tis that we
shall be to Him all that He desires.
LESSON 17. — The seed in the four
kinds of soil, Mark iv, 1-20. Golden
Text, Jas. 1, 21, "Receive with meek-
ness the engrafted word, which is able
to save your souls." To latow God le
life. Ile reveals Himself b3• Llis word,
and .Jesus Christ is the Living Word,
between whom and the written word
there is the most perfect agreement.
Iteceiving Ilim we become children of
God, the children of the kingdom, for
which we wait.
Lessee III, -The growth of the king -
down, Mark iv, 2552; Blatt. xiii, 33.
Golden Text, Mal. vi, 10, "'Thy will
be clone in earth, as it Is in heaven."
The title of this lesson is unfortunate,
as the kingdom has not yet begun and
therefore cannot be growing. In all
Itis parables about the kingdom we
must remember His saying, '"The mys-
tery of the kiugdom of God," (ltl'aric
iv, 11.) The church, which is Isis
body, is the mystery which is now
growing.
LEssox IV.—The wheat and the
tares, Matt. xill, 24.30, 30-43. Golden
Test, Matt. xiii, 30, "Gather ye togeth-
er farst the tares and bind them in
bundles to burn them, but gather the
wheat into my barn." Since the har-
vest is the end of this age and the
devil keeps at work till then, it should
be clear to a11 who believe that the
kingdom cannot come in this age.
First the church is taken, then the age.
runs on till Ile shall come to close it.
Lesson; V.—The worth of the king-
dom, Matt, xiii, 44-53. ' Golden Text,
Matt. v1, 33, "Seek ye first the king-
dom of God and His rdghteousness,
and all these things shall be added
unto you." The parables of the treas-
ure and the pearl set forth the pre-
ciousness of Israel and the church to
Him who gave up, all for their sakes,
for they will be the ,heavenly and
earthly centers of His kingdom
Lsissox VI:—A troubled sea and a
troubled soul, Mark iv, 35 to v. 20.
Golden Text,. Ps. xlvi, 1, 2 (R. V.),
"God is our refuge and strength,, a
very present help in trouble." See a
weary man' untroubled, peacefelly
sleeping in the midst of great trouble.
See Him mightier than the storm or
than a legion of demons, 'for He i5 as
truly God as man, and all things shall
yet be subject to Him.
Lessee VII.—The Ruler's daughter,
Mark v, 21-43. Golden Text,. Mark v,
41, "And He took the damsel by the
hand and said unto her, Talltha,

Damao!, I say unto thee arise."
Twelbe years of life developing, stid-
denly ended, but restored; twelve
years of life wasting away suddenly,'.
made whole, for in liOm is life. He
is the life and the,resurrection.
Lessor VIII.—The visit.' to Nazareth,
Luke iv, 10-30. Golden Text, John 1,,
11 (11. V.), "He came' unto His own,
and they that were Psis own received
Him not." Both this and the later
visit to Nazareth (Marie vi, 1-6) re-
sulted in their refusing Him, because
they thought they knew Him too well
to receive Him as the Messiah. Some'.
one has said that they might have
known Him better if they had not
known flim so well.
Lessee. IS.—The death of John the
Baptist, Mark vi, 14-29. 'Golden Text,•.
Rev.' 11, 10 '(R. V,), "Be thou faithful
unto death, and I will give thee the
crown of life. To my mind the story
of John is, from the human side, in
many respects one of the saddest in

The one thing above all else that you want to know
about the range you buy is this—that it will cook and
broil and bake with absolute' satisfaction.
Other features of a range, such as coaavenienCe,
economy and appearance, are, of course also indispens-
able, but the prime necessity in a range is results in
cooking. The Gurney -Oxford gives results—not now
and then, but always.
Every Gurney -Oxford is a source of continual satisfac=
tion to its owner. Day after day, year after year, it
enables her to produce pastry, bread, roasts that
contribute to the pleasure of housekeeping. That is
why the Gurney -Oxford finds its strongest support
among these who have had actual and intimate experi.
ence with it. You . too will number
your Gurney.
Oxford among your best friends.
