from Bounty, Sask. to visit her
mother, Mrs. Houlden, and her sis-
ter, Mrs. George Cook, Victoria

Rev. C. L. Langford is spendiog the
Christmas vacation time at his home
near London. Rev. Mr. Eccleston
of Grantor will have- charge of his
work on Sunday.
Miss May Rance, who has been in
the west since midsummer, hast
come east for the Christmastide
and is in Toronto for a few days
before coming on to Clinton.
Mr. Harry Fair came down from
North Bay to spend Christmas.

Mr. H. A. Hovey is at present ill in
the Goderich hospital, having been
taken there from his winter camp
at Naftel's. His friends are hop-
ing that his recovery may be rapid.
Mr. Chas. Howson, who has been re-
presenting the governments of the
western provinces in the United
States for some months past, is
spending a few days with his
mother and sister ill town.
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hammel! and
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Reid and fam-
ily arrived on Friday night last
from their homesteads at Krupp,
Sask., and next morning went on to
their old homes at Varna. They do
not purpose returning to the prair-
ies aga'n before March.
Mr. J. W. Hill of Oxbow, Sask., who
is , accompanied by his daughter,
Miss Ina_ Hill, arrived, Monday and
is the guest of his daughter, Mrst
Will Plumsteel. Coming to Clin-
ton is coming back to the home
town with Mr. Hill and renewing
old associations is always a source
of joy' to him.
Mr. Harry Morrish arrived Monday
from. his homestead at Oxbow,
Sask., after, en abuts a of nine
years and is visit:nes his mother,
Mrs. W. Robb, his brother, Mr. A.
J. Morrish, and numerous old-time Master Reginald left' on ,Monday
friends. He notices many changes for a fortnight's visit with Mon -
treat friends
on-treal-friends before going to their
new home in Brantford. They will
be much missed it Clinton, more
especially in St. Paul's church, of
course, but also by a large circle
of friends outside that denomina-
tion who have learned to hold them
in, high esteem.

last evening from Rosthern, Sask.,
and will spend a few weeks with
the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
R. Graham. They were accompan-
ied by their brother, Mr. Erre

lived ,just north of 'Clinton on the
Base. Line, was in town several
days of the past week. He has
been clown in Kent „since last,
spring so is enabled from personal
observation to draw a comparison
with that county and old , Huron
which he does very much in the
later's favor. We have better soil
as a whole and very' muck, indeed,
superior roads. Our farmers too,
have an easier time for tobacco;,
which isone of thechief products
of Kent, Calls for constant -atten-
tion. ,As fox town, Mr. , Gannett
has not yet seen 'a place of 3,000.

church at Londesboro Sunday after-
noon, Mrs. George Scales of the 91.h:
con. hail occasion to go out of doors
when she was seized by a fainting
spell and lay unconscious until the -
return of the family. As the re.
sult of the exposure she has since
been ill but is recovering.
