Mrs. F. F. Gillies of Toronto has
been visiting in town the past
week or so, having been called
home on account of the illness of
her mother, Mrs. S. J. Andrews,
who is now improving.
Mrs. H.P. Westlake and Mrs. Moreton
of Sandwich were here last week
attending the funeral of their aunt,
Miss M. A. Watkins, On their re-
turn home they were accompanied
by their mother, Mrs. H. M. Kilts,.
Mr. T. R. Shepherd, who recently re-
turned from overseas and who has
been visiting his mother here
and relatives in Toronto, Ottawa
and at other points during the
past month, left Toronto on Sat-
ursday for Winnipeg, where he
has to report to the Royal Bank
on Monday: "Chum", as he is
known to all his old friends, was
before going overseas; manager of
a branch of the Royal Bank in
Saskatchewan and returns to the
servicce of the Bank.

An accident occurred in Wingham
last week when an auto and a bicy-
cle collided on the atret and the rider
of the bicycle and a lady driving in
the auto were both badly hurt.

sold his practise to Dr. Graham of

While driving his auto near Lucas
on Sunday week Frederick Tay-
lor was run into by a buggy the sh-
aft of thei buggy piercing the head of
his small son who was on his wife's
knee. The little lad is in St. Jos-
eph's Hospital, London, but small
hopes are entertained for his recov-
ery,
Mrs. Elsie of Exeter', ninety-four
years of age, cast her vote on Mon-
day week,
Mr. and Mrs. John Rowe of Exe-
ter are going 40 Ontario, California,
for the winter. They accom-
pany Mrs. Campbell and daughter
of Hensall, who are going south to
reside.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Ii. Goode of
Godorieh announce the engagement
of their daughter, Pearl Viola, to Mr,
James Alexander Straiton. The
marriage takes place early in Nevem-
bee.
Mr. David Sproul of Dungannon
was Injured by the limb of a falling
tree while -at work in Mr, Culbert's
Woods on Monday week,
Dr. Ross, who hits been serving in
the Dental Corps overseas, has re, -
turned to Wingham and has again
resumed practise.

Mrs, Robert Hanley of the Sth eon:
cession died at her home on Saturday
night last after an illness of some
duration. Mrs. Stanley is survived by
her husband and -three sons: George,
Cecil and Fred. The funeral took
place from the family residence on
Monday afternoon to Bayfield ceme-
tery. The services were conducted by
the Rev, E. le Anderson, of Bayfield,
assisted by the Rev. W. B. Mciulton
of Clinton. Mush sympathy is felt
for the family in their sad 'bereave -
