Our charming American cousins . of-
ten give us a laugh and one really,
needs to have a sense of humour if
one would live on amicable terms
:with them. For instance, - a lady
visiting in Clinton a short time ago
told of a visit she made recently to
a ,city across the border. She made
a small purchase and in order to pay
for to Canadian - bank
o it had a
'note. The girl behind the counter
gave her her change, deducting the
exchange rate, and the Canadian
lady made some remark about the
size or the exchange. The salesgirl
said': "Yes ,It is too bad. I real-
ly hate to discount your money like
this and I don't think we ought to
do it because you Canadians helped
us so much in the war."
