Hon Mr. Biggs advocates the two-

trouble of turning out when meeting
:another vehicle but were afraid it
would just be another excuse for
.speeding.
An editor is the Republican choice
as candidate for the presidency„ of
-the United States. If hes elected
we'•hope he'll insist upon "editing"
.a lot of stuff' the newspapers over
.there publish, things that ruffle up
'the temper of Canadians.

The .United Statesdoesn't seem to
',.be able to get away from: a "writing
chap" in its presidental campaign.
President Wilson has a world-wide
reputation as a note -writer and Sen-

Five Owen Sound youths fell in
dap -'with the glamor of life in :a
-circus and went off with the Sparks'
people, who recently showed there.
'They stuck to it as far as Guelph

like home," and struck for the
.-"Sound City." Few walks of life

times seem to the outsider and a cir-
cus always has a peculiar attraction

"Those who talk, as some are now
'talking, about `beating the new tax-
-es', display a curious kink in their
moral conception of citizenship," says
`The Simoe Reformer. "To pay taxes
is one of the primary duties which
'one owes to one's country To seek
to evade this•duty at any time is to
play the quitter in respect of one of
the most important of responsibili-
•itiee to the state. But in these times,
when heavier .taxation is in reality
the 'mopping up' process of the war,
the tax evader plays a game not far
removed from that of the man who
:funked in the course of the fight.
Let there be no mistake about that.
The taxes recently imposed by the
'Drayton budget are to wind up the
part we took in the late war. To help
Pxy' € ni, therefore, is as tmuch a
duty upon Canadian citizenship • as
e. was the obligation to contribute one's
'best between 1914 and 1918. And the
man who, either through meanness,
•or a 'smart Alec' idea of things, or
a wrong conception of public duty,
tries to evade them, is in a degree as
much of a slacker as the man who
,could not be found when the ca]1 was
to go 'over there'. "
