SHOP as much as you will; you cannot
give family or friends a more accept-
able remembrance than a real photo -
portrait in a charming Ultrafine mounting.
Just now there are a lot of mothers who are
bringing the kiddies to the studio for Christmas
photographs,--- and incidentally they are hav-
ing their own portrait lnade at the same time.
Studio appointments can be arranged

A Mild Winter?
Mr: John Noble, Huron Road, Eas
told. the New Era on Saturday nigh
that last week the frogs were still sing
ing in the creeks and that he had Is
picked a dandelion. Mow is that fp
December weather?
Mail Your Christmas Parcels Early.
Remember that thousands of oche
people are mailing an annual number
of letters and parcels, too, hi this sea
son, and if they all pile up togethe
the last few days, it is impossible to
get anything handed and delivered on
time, and somebody is bound to be dis-
appointed. Mail early and see that
your friends get your Christmas greet-
ing before the day's festivities are
over,

Pickard,--Gorbutt Wedding,
t At the Ontario St. Parsonage at high
noon on Monday, Dec, 1211, Rev. S.
Anderson tied the matrimonial knot
o between Miss Mary Garbutt, daughter
of Mr., and Mrs, Frederick Gorbutt of
r Clinton, and Mr. Albert Pickard of
Holmesville, son of Mr, and Mrs. Ezra
Pickard, of Clinton, The young couple
left on the afternoon train for a trip
t East and on their return will reside on
the groom's farm, near Holtnesvllle af-
ter the New Year.
The New Marker
The new license automobile mark-
ers will carry black nunnerals on a
white back -ground. The ,plates • and
general design will be practically the
same 'as this year's, but the visibility
of the numbers is expected to be in-
creased by the fact that the figures
will be four incites in height, instead
of about three inches as on this year's
markers. It is expected that the us-
ual pilin of allowing motorists a month
in which to secure the new licenses will
be followed this year.
Must Not be Given to Press:
Tidings of great moment for those
about to join- the ranks of the newly-
weds comes from the parliament build.
Ings,' Toronto. The Government has
decided that it would no longer per-
mit the broadcast publication of the
names of those who have made appli-
cation for marriage licenses. nl fu-
ture anyone desirous of ascentaining
whether such a step has Been taken
may make search by filling out and
signing a form which has been prepar-
ed by the provincial -secretary's de-
partment. The order -in -council will be
forwarded immediately to the various
municipal clerks. The government
has taken this action as the result of
complaints to the effect that the pub-
lished lists of marirage licenses are be-
ing used wholesale by furniture in-
stallment houses, real estate brokers,
book agents and a great host of other
people who swoop down on the newly
wedded couple in the hope of selling
their wares or who deluge them with
circulars, catalogues and of price lists,
The nuisance applies chiefly to cities,
Young Mother Called Away;

to be around until Sunday when' she
had to take to her bed. Besides her
husband she is survived by three small
children, The funeral was held on
Wednesday afternoon from the home
of Mrs. Peter Cantelon, and interment
was made in Clinton Cemetery. Rev,
D. N. McCamus conducted the services:
The sympathy of the community goes
