Get Ready for Christmas.
It's a wise person who follows the
injunction to "do your Christmas
Shopping early" and also to have your
gifts made up in time. Less than 50
days now remain in which to make the
necessary presents and do your shop-

Most towns have a by-law regulating
tite'height of awnings to at least seven

Appreciation of Service.
The following item taken fron. the
Brantford Expositor refers to a former
pastor of Ontario St. Church: --Rev,
William Smythe, of this city, has just
been the recipient of a very cordial note
of appreciation from the Official Board
of the Milton Methodist church, where
he took union services last sunnier.
According to the report of the meeting,
Mr. Smythe was assured of a warm wel-
come when he comes to Milton again
Mr. Smythe has served fifty-five years
in the active ministry and still does ef-

Rate Increase.
Many persons are unaware of the
recent change in postal rates to foreign
countries and a notice issued by the
postoflice department explains the new
charges. Ten cents for the first ounce
will be charged for letters addressed
to countries outside Great Britain and
the Empire, or Canada, United States
and Mexico, and five cents for each
additional ounce. For Great Britain
and all other places within the Empire
the rate is four cents for the first
ounce and tihree cents for each addit-
ional ounce, inclusive of war tax. The
rate for Canada, United States and
Mexico remains unchanged. 11

As Clothes are to the Body,..
so are Wall Papers to the Home
Few people can afford tobe badly dressed; and
few people can% afford to live with old or in-
harmonious wall papers..
They affect the spirits. They decrease self-
confidence.. They reduce morale. They are
unhealthy for mind and body.
harmonious Wall Papers are a Tonic.. They"
influence the whole atmosphere of the house.
