McKILLOP PIONEERS
A handsome granite shaft to
honor the memory of the Scotts
and Dickson, the first setlters. to
hew homes for theinselves along the
Maitland River, is being erected by
their descendents at Roxboro, once
a thriving settlement about two
miles north west of Seaforth. The
shaft of which the foundation is In
Progress of being completer is being
built on the site of the old mill
once operated by the late James
Scott, feather of A. D. Scott and
James R. Scott of Seaforth end
Joseph .Scott of Roxboro. John
Dickson of Winnipeg is in charge of
collecting the neceeeary funds for
erecting this handsome monument
to these worthy McKillop dpioneers,
aiMr, Dial. -son writes: "The passing
years have dimmeh our memories
too much of the early history con-
nected with the arrival of our fore-
fathers In the Huron Tract in 1534.
In that year after many hardships
