Fine Reports Given Mrs. Walter Snif114e presided at the 3rd quarterly meeting of the Ladies' Aid of Knox Presbyterian church on Thursday afternoon. After a hymn, Miss Olive Scott led in prayer. Mrs. Roy Turvey re- ported the activities of the Morris group. Receipts for the quarter were $10.00. Mrs. Jack Snell told of the work being carried on by the Triple group, Their August meet- ing ' was cancelled. Receipts amounted to $7.75. Rev. F. G. Fowler, Archie Messer, Eldred Nichol, Walter ,Smillie and Wm. Mundell, with their wives were named a committee to ar- range for a oongregationai social at Thanksgiving. At the close of the meeting a tea was served by mem. bers of the Morris group. The anniversary services in the United church on Sunday -were well attended. The special speaker for the occasion was Rev. George Hazel- wood, Walton., At the morning ser- vice the message was on Thanks- giving dor the brighter outlook on war conditions. Mr. J. Wick - stead contributed a solo in keeping with the service. The subject for the evening ser- vice was "Faith," based on the text Isaiah 41;13. ":Por I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." The choir. under the leader- ship of Mrs. W, J. Johnston, con- tributed special numbers, with Mrs. Alex NlcCrackin, Mrs, A. D, Swith, Mrs. George Hetherington, Carl 3ohrston and Charles Mathers talc ing part in duets and quartettes. Baskets of beautiful fall flowers in shades of pink ani} white d ecor- ated the church. The service at Knox Presbyterian church on Sunday morning was conducted by the minister, Rev. 2' G. Fowler, He preached from a poi tion of the Lord's prayer, "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven," stressing the lmpontance and neces- sity of abedieee to the will of Cod. ' In accordance with the proclama- tion of Hes Majesty Bing George, special prayer was offered, and Mrs. Raymond Elliott sang "For Those Who Serve to I(eep Us Free."
