Johnston Re«Union
Held At Lucan
00 July ten It gathering of the
Johnston family was held at the
home of Mr, and !Mrs. Earl Mothers
01' Lueen. it was a beautiful day and
thirty-three members of the clan
came from Brussels, Bluevale, Wing -
ham, London, Hickson and Kin -
cardiae, to visit with each other and
!enjoy the .heepltality of an Ideal
host and hostess,
The lovely lawn, shaded by a
huge maple was chair seated for
comfort, and as guests arrived and
greetings were made, tall tales of
days agone, hut not forgotten were
re -told with laughter and fun, the
younger generation adding their
comments on the doings of their
elders.
Some of us got a few shacks when
the hostess handed us a book of
snapshots, Taken "when we were
very young". The years have surely
brought changes, and in many cases
for the bettor, but it was rather
interesting to see how you looked
at the tender age of sweet sixteen or
wading the old Maitland, skirts held
knee high, or driving with boy or
girl friend in those horse and buggy
days, or fishing "back behind the
Parkes" farm. The older ones en-
, joyed• "looking backward" while the
lyounger ones had fun at our
expense.
With fun made of every incident,
even of the busy cameras the happy
afternoon flew away. At -five the
evening had grown enol and sapper
was served in the dining roam,
tying room and porch.
Sort of have a notion the gals of
our elan are good cooks and the boys
aregood"cooking" if nejj the conks.
One member of the clan had an
experience she will not forget, the I I
hostess seated the lady at the lace -
covered and flower decked table and
three birthday cakes were set
before her, all decorated in approved
birthday style, one even had
seventeen candles on it ! 1 Well,
we blew otit the candles while calls
of "speech speech" came from the
"gang", but the lady was speechless,
the lovely cakes came from Hickson
Wingham and Kincardine, thanks
a million folks they were certainly
appr'ec'iated by yours truly,
Dessert was cherry pie and ict,
cream and do our boys ever like ice
creast and pie !
• All told- it was a grated day for
each of us and we hope to meet a•
the home of Mr, and Mrs, Frank J.
Shaw, next year. Good luck to all of
the Joliibsten family.

It was evident from the opening

hard, vigorous tackles by the

result that the long -kinking game

paid off, when T. Morris scored
after five minutes of play from
a wild scramble in front of the
Stratford goal.
The type of soccer played by the
Brussels team was very crude.
They were more inclined to
play the man Than the hall. Any
attempt to play open soccer by;

were not very particular what
method they used to stop the vlst-
