Writes Tram England
DEAR MB. KEEii,--Well, here we
are in England and, 1 had some trip
acmes the old Atlantic. Beefy place
you looked you could see u"i ling but
water. We left Halifax April 29th
and the ocean was a utile rough on
the start from port but that didn't
make me the least bit sick, I could eat
and keep my meals down all right,
Wall, it le kind of cold here jest now
but that is withiug, got to get used to
that, or, in other worde it. is all in a
soldier's life: We will leave that ont
of the question all together. We
landed at Liverpool Sunday night the
week following and disembarked on
the following morning, leaving the
dear old ship, Olympic, behind and
going on board a train for Shurnoliffe,
passing through Manchester, Rugby
and n 1 old London and Landing in Shorn -
chile about midnight, as far as I
know, for I was asleep when we land-
ed, Felt pretty tired too believe me.
Went from Shorneliffe station to Dib -
gale Camp where wo had 1,0 remain in
quarantine for 10 days to see that no
disease broke out. We left there this
morning for; present address, getting
dere in time to eat again but of
eourse that is the best part of it. The
ally thing I've got against this
country is ib is raining mast of the
time. I have a great time getting on-
to the °ousting of the English money.
I am going on a 8 day pace next
week and I think I will go to Cardiff,
Wates, and gee if I can't find some of
my relatives and after I come back I
txpect to go to France. I suppose
you :vita be getting ready for the 2451
Celebration, probably it will be over
by the time you gat this. We are
having a big celebrabion aL Shoencliffe
on that day, I think I will go down
and see the fun if I am here.
Our battalion is all broken up and
the a'e to go as reinforcements for the
02nd Battalion and 48th Highlanders
of Toronto, good battalion too at that.
I was sorry to hear that Ross Mc-
Kinnon was killed and Will. May.
berry was wounded. Wish I knew
Will's address so I could write him a
letter once in a while. I saw some of
the Brussels boys' of the 110th last
night, Frank Gerry, Chas, Pope and
Scott Ament and we got talking about',
Camp Borden and the good times we
had up there lasb Summer. Wish I 1
could see some of the 181st boys, I
was sorry to hear that Lieut. Stewart
Scott is back to Canada again. It
seems funny to me to say Canada.
Well I think I will have to eloee as
first post is blowing on the bugle and
the rest of the fellows are getting
their beds ready, which consist of
4 blankets, rubber sheet and we sleep
on the floor. Pretty hard bed too but
such is life. Send me THE POST every
week as I would like it because it
makes this place more like home to
era Well I guess I will close as it
leaves me
well atOnt. r s

Relief Work for ilia Victims of
the War in CI:Igium
To the Editor of Tun Poem:
Lr view of the recent statement is-
sued by Mr. Hoover, Chairman of the
Commission for Relief in Belgium
which points out the impossibility at
present of obtaining the necessary
shipping tonnage to fat"-ard to Bel-
gium the food supplies in the same
quantities' as in the past, and it also
draws attention to the fact that the
United States Government have made
arrangements ants to loan to the Belgian
Government the sum of $45,000,000,
payable to the Commission for Relief
to Belgium in six monthly instal-
ments, which sure will cover the cost
of such food supplies as can be ship-
ped in that time by the limited num-
bee of ships available to the Commis-
sion, the Central Executive Commit.
lee of the Belgian Relief Fund in
Canada finds it unneceseary for the
present, to make appeal to the gener-
ously disposed people of Canada ou
the plea of the urgency of support in
order to stave off starvation,
The needs of Belgium continue how-
ever act pressing as in the past and the
situation may be considered as being
even more pitiable as, through the
1'.irced decrease in imports, Belgium
will be compelled to fall back on her
Iotsb native resources already so denud-
ed. In carder to maintain that so
limited ration that line been doled out
in the past it will bo necessary to en-
etoach upon the country's stock of
011113 Cattle which has been reserved
to maintaia.a *apply of fresh milk for
the children.
In the hope, however, that the re-
cent swiftly developed shortage in the
World's shipping, the cause of this
new departure of the Relief Work,
may : u
of penitently endure ; in the
hope that the necessary funds may be
available should any emergency or
special occasion
arise
and In view
of
the fact
that is any event relief in
many forms will be required after the
war, the Committee hope ,
pe
thatall 1 the
generous supporters of the Fund in
the past and all those who have
pledged themselves for future pay -
meats will continue to support the
Fund and thus continue to show their
sympathy with the people who gave
tibio all for the cause of ,Humanity.
