Wood received the sad news that his mother, who had been in failing health For some years, bad passed away at her home in Berlin, aged 82 years. She suffered a stroke'of paralys- is Sunday evening and in her enfeebled condition was unable to eolnbat it. Deceased's maiden name was Elizabeth Jessop and her birthplace Kirkburton, England. She came to this continent in 1857 to marry her old time lover, Charles Wood, wbo had preceded her, the matrimonial bow being tied in t Massacliuse ts, U, S. In 1862 they moved to Canada. Mr, Wood, who was an expert woollen manufacturer, bad poor health and farmed in Osprey town - LAST week John Batemah while work- ing in the bush wee struck on the sboulder by a tree and knocked over in- juring bis back also. We hope he will soon be all right once more. SOME DR1vER.—Talk about fancy lady drivers at our Fall Fairs—but they haven't auythiug on one of our South- ampton lady drivers who harnessed and hitched up a horse to the buggy last Monday and went out for a couple of hours' drive around town with a lady friend.
