light, was held om the lake Monday
night, and was patronized by a large
crowd, the boat having a passenger
capacity of 3,000. The' moonlight was
run under the auspices of the Thirty-
third Regimental Band, The Grey-
hound took a large excursion Tuesday
to Detroit for three days stop. All

rich. The object of the meeting was
to raise the rates of job work. which
have always been too low, This was
ac comtplished at the meeting by the
unanimous consent of all the publish-

BLYTH' WoN.-Three rinks of Brus-
sels bowlers, skipped by Messrs.
Jones, Ross and Downing played
three rinks 'of the Blyth bowlers,
skipped by J. Carter, Dr. Charles-
worth, and D. McTaggart on the
local green_ Thursday of last week.
The home rinks won on the whole,
although the first two rinks were
down 15 shots, but Dr. McTaggart's
rink, consisting of the two McTag-..
gate's; H. A. Thomas and A. W.
Robinson, beat the Downing rink, 29
to 9. thereby winning the gtune on
the total by five shots. This was
quite an honor for Biyth, as itis very'
seldom they are victorious ever Brus-
sels. This, being the flat game of
the season, augurs well for a suc-
cessful year.

-Owing to all outbreak of smallpox
in Wallace township the local Board
of Health met Saturday afternoon

of the disease, Provincial Officer
McNally, was summoned and Monday
diagnosed at least, three or four cases
as smallpox which were formerly
thought to have been chickenpox.
The disease originated g ted in the Leban-
on School, Wallace township. Two
students attending the local high
school from that section were taken
down with the disease and 01, that
account the Town Board of Health has
-ordered that the'school be thorougbly
disinfected and that before any of the
pupils be allowed to return they must
be vaccinated. Monday and Tuesday
have been set aside as vaccinating
days. A medical officer will he in at.
tendance and the school pupils will be
vaccinated free. It has been decided
that all of the students except those
writing on examinations shall be dis-
missed. The others, before being al-
lowed to write will be required to
produce a certificate of vaccination.

train for a trip to Toronto, New York
and Atlantic city, the

ance of ministers and laymen; and the
sessions were particularly interesting.,
Rev. Mr. McAllister, of Exeter, was-:,
elected President and Rev. R, F. Irwie,
of Wheatley, Secretary.
The addresses at the anniversaries '
were unusually strong and Rev. Dr.
Stansfield, of Indianapolis, morning
talks were full of good things.
There was a fine class, g in all, ordain-
ed on Sunday and the audiences on Saber;
bath overflowed the church.
