(Mich.) Patriot gives the foliowmg,in•
cident. Mrs. Coyne being formerly Mesa
Mary Oliver. of Brussels sister to Mrs.
J. Leckie :-lir. and Mrs. I. W. Coyne,
of Bothwell, Ont., have been the guests
of Frank and Mrs, Webber for the past
few days, and are about to return to
their Canadian home ,Mrs. Coyne
and Mr. Webber are cousins, the form
er being a Canadian girl by birth.
Several years ago the 0005Ins weir
separated and for fifteen years hay,
never once heard directly of each other,
and it was only when letters had been
written to England, from which place
Mr. Webber came, that the exact resi
deuces of the two were made; known to

COUNTY BEIDGEs.- The Road and
Bridge committee of the County Couucil
met Saturday, 13th inst., at Auburn
bridge, 1. Hill, of Mitchell, bein0

report that so far as can be ascertained
the superstructure is not damaged, but
the foundation of the West abutment ie
wasbed out, the abutment badly cracked

for tenders for the needed work on, both

Considerable damage has been done by
washouts. About 2,00o yards of the
approach to Ball's bridge on the Col-
borne side, is Roue ; about 1,000 yards
of the approach to a small bridge in
Zetlaud is damaged, as is also the ap-
proHch to Bluevale bridge, Engineer
was instructed to have the damage re-
paired as fast as possible in each case.

James Torrance, M. P. P., of Milverton,
brother of the deceased, was with his
brother to the end. The' late John
Torrance was born at Edwardsburg,
Grenville County, 67 years ago, being
the son of the late John and Mary lane
Torrance. As a pioneer of the Queen',
Bush. deceased came to Morningtou
township in 1854, experiencing all the
hardships incident to clearing the land.

R1vER.-Messrs. Yates and Acres of
the hydro -electric commissioners met
representatives from the several
municipalities of Huron County in
Clinton Thursday to consider the de-
velopment of power on the Maitland
River. Engineer Acres gave the re-
sult of a systematic investigation from
monthly readings taken at the Black
Hole during the last twelve months
and the results proved to be surpris-
ing to both commissioners and people.
They estimate that at certain seasons
of the year over 5000 horsepower can
