'there are numerous ad- vantages to be derived front such e Society, more particularly in the beauti Eying of public and private properties by the added interest in the cultivation of flowers and plants and the laving out and keeping M order of lawns and boulevards. If euough persoustoterest• ed will hand their names to Tins Posr we wou'd be glad to secure persons in Ornately convected ,lith such Societie, to come to town for the purpose named, TirePoor has good reason to believe that a hustling Business Men's Associn. tion. in Brussels could do a practice, work tor the town not within the prov- ioce of the Council nor to be done by individual effort. Such au organiza- tion could discuss various plans of lin proverneut, seek out iuformatiou rela- tive to enlargement of local industries and bi division into committees could share np the work and look after duties assigned to the particular section of the Association. Only a very small percent. age of citizens zany esu occupy seats at the Municipal board but a local combining, after the Board of Trade idea, would bring out undeveloped talent and trait' men for wider fields of usefulness. Con- jointly objects could be obtained and succes es achieved next to impossible to the single handed. Such a body could act as an advisory committee to the Council and by a spirit of unity might easily conserve the best interests of 'Brussels. What do you think about it ? This is a live question just uaty and the various congregations tot lug upon this issue will be prumptec to cast their batiot lot or against mem d- lug to their belief as to the good or t11 expected to be effected. Among other reasons why we think an affirmative .olswer shot !d begiven g en are :-The basis of Union supplies a common meeting ground, at least satisfactory to a majori- ty of the Committee of the three denomt- ations interested 10 the uuioo; the great -hriokage in church population iu rare, Easterly provinces and the difficulty ins meetiug the financial obligations ; short. age of men for the ministry ; the loud and persistent demand from the West to meet the needs of the millions who are locating there ; the tmperattve call to respond to the Missionary Macedoni. an cry, "Come over and help us" ; ram- eeotraton of torces and finauces would afford a fine opportuuity for a great "Forward Movemeut" ; the harmony and good fellowship now existing be- tween the denominations to unite If the vote is favorable ; the unanimity dis- played in the object and manner with which work is now done. In many places two or more cburebes would still he required but the contemplated union would mean a great saving of men and means to be employed to meet the ex- igencies of this day so that the good seed may be planted while the soil is ready and a harvest reaped from the fields white unto the harvest, Some may hesitate to drop the church name bywince their denumloatiou was known but that to more sentimental than valid. Will the union streugthen, broaden and better the Lord's Kingdum in the chang- ing conditions of the world today ? If so we should hasten it, • Some of he objections urged were used in con- oectlon with former unions of the Pres- byteriau bridles and various Methodist denominations but in the majority of in• stances the direfol prophecies never eventuated and none will gainsay to day the wisdom of the amalgamations °f the past nor wish to return to the divided cou its n dt o s formerly existing. v x tin g• When buying a cough medicine for children bear in mind that Chamber- lain's Oottgll Remedy is most efi'eotnal for (olds, oomp and whooping cough and that it nontttirts nobat•nlfal ding: For sale by all dealers. e feternacls Medicine is Useless Impossible to cure catarrh in the nose by dosing theatornttelt.
