Clifford Girls Won.— On Monday evening the Girls' Softball team of Clifford won on Victoria Park from the Brussels girls by a score of 25- 16. The visitors were a snappy bunch of players and took advantage of everything that was offered by the home team. Another Drop.— Prices for all grades of sugar dropped two cents a pound on Monday, making a decline of 20 emits during the month. The wholesale price is now 36.77 per 100 pounds. The member of a wholesale house expresses the opinion that the price will be low for some time as there has been an enormous crop, S. Bruce Convention July 31.—The Conservatives of South Bruce riding have organized for federal purposes and will hold a convention in Tees- water on Friday, July 81, to select a candidate for South Bruce at the next Dominion general election. Apply at American hotel. 11 Baseball Revised.—Brussels saw a baseball match on Tuesday evening when Blyth came over and played a picked team. -The score was 7-3 for Brussels at the end of the 5th innings. The Brussels players were:—Willis, ss; Murcar, 1B; Sommerville, p; Bal- lantyne, lf; Bowman c; Cudmore, 3b; McIntyre, rf; T. Campbell, cf; Camp- bell, 2b. The score by innings was: Brussels -1 2 3 1 x — 7 Blyth— 10020 — 3 Passed Away.—After a long illness and confined to her bed since Christ- mas, Rachel Jane Sackrider, beloved wife of James A. Tennant, passed away at her home on James street, last Thursday morning at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 8 days. De- ceased was born near Burgessville, Oxford Co., and in 1867 was married to her now bereft partner at Mitchell on October, 17th, and for over 37 years they were respected citizens of Lima Township. In 1922 they mov- ed to .Brussels where they have resid- ed ever since. Five children were born to them, and four grew to man- hood and womanhood, 0o but all are de- ceased. e ceased. The funeral was hold on Fri- day afternoon and services were con- ducted by Rev. A. W. Barker, of the United Church. Interment was made in Elma Centre Cemetery, Among those present from a distance to at- tend the funeral were Andrew E. and W. E. Nichol, of Detroit; Andrew and Mrs. Agar and Miss Hazel, of Mount Forest; Andrew and Mrs. Kay, Lis- towel; William and Mrs, Scott, Wing ham; James and Misses Sarah and Hattie Cuthbert, Ingersoll; Chas, and Mrs. Orth, and Miss Alice Orth, Nor- wich, The pallbearers were: E. Several of The Pot readers will, be interested in the following account of a Toronto wedding, the brkie being an old McKillop girl:—A pretty wed- ding took place in St. Anne's Church, Toronto, on Saturday, July 18th, the ceremony being conducted by Rev, G. Braeken, of Toronto,, when Jelin, second daughter of the late Andrew and Mrs. McKibbin, was united in marriage to Charles G., only son of Mr's. Etta Walker, of Toronto, ttnd the late M1'. Walker. ,The bride was given away by her brother, Albert, of Wallaceburg, and looked very pret- ty in a gown of powder blue silk georgette, heavily beaded with cry- stal beads, over satin of the same shade, with which she wore a hand - embroidered cream leghorn hat, her only ornament being a string of pearls, the groom's gift. After the Church service the wedding party drove to the home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. M. E. McEwen, of Brock Ave., where a dainty buffet tea was served. The happy couple left the same day on a motor trip to the Ot- tawa district and the Northern Lakes, followed by the good wishes of many friends, On their return they will reside in Toronto. William E. Heist Passes Away.— After an illness that has extended oyer two years, though able to con- tinue his work until about 9 months ago, William E. Heist passed away Saturday morning at his home on Albert street, at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 12 days. Deceased was born in Brussels and was a son of the late David Heist. 34 years ago he married his partner in life, Annie Harding, and after living in, Brus- sels a few years, was transferred to Kincardine and for the past 20 years has resided in Atwood as section foreman of the C. N. R. The late Mr. Heist was for over 30 years with the Railway Company, giving faithful service. Besides his widow, he is sur- vived by 5 children: Everett, of Tor- onto; Myrtle (Mrs. T. A. Rogers, Tor- onto ) ; Charles, of Stratford; Wil- liam and Nelson, at home. Deceased is also survived by one brother, George, of town. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon and the services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Snell, of Londesboro, former pastor of the deceased at Atwood, assisted by Rev. A. W. Barker, of Brussels. The pallbearers were: J. Simmons A. Hamilton, R. Ingles, A. Thomp- son, Mr. Hill, and A. Holmes, all railway men. Among those from a distance were Fred Harding, of Tor- onto; 11. J. Harding, of Stratford; A. Pendur, Palmerston and T. Sampson, Kincardine, the latter Road Master of this line. Interment was made in Brussels Cemetery. WALTON Mies Annie Fergueou is holidaying at Port Albert. Friends are glad to hear that Wm. G. Clark. who recently went under an operation for appendicitis, is mak- ing good improvement. A public meeting will be held on Friday evening of this week. A good program will be presented and J. W. King, M.P. for North Huron will be present. Everybody is invited to come.
