OBITUARY.—As stated in last week's
issue of The POST Neil Black, an old
and well known resident of the 4th
line, passed away on June SOth, after
an illuess caused by being struck by a
bale of hay on the head, He was in
his 68112 year and unmarried, Mr,
Black was born at Sonya, Victoria
Co. and came to this township with
his parents the late Lauchlin and Mrs.
Black and membbra of the family
in 1871, locating at SS Lot 21, Cote 4,
on which the subject of this notice
died, The father passed away in 1871
and the mother
followed in
1911.

Mary, continued cm the homestead.
Other surviving members of the fam-
ily are Malcolm, Brussels ; John, Mor-
rie ; P. A., Owen Sound ; and Don-

Last Saturday another milestone in
the remarkable age of David Rose, our
towneman of nearly 60 years, wee
commemorated when this wortby old
veteran celebrated hie 9$th anniver-
sary at his home, Elizabeth street,
Bruesele, surrounded by members of
.his family and in the enjoyment of a
good degree of health, retaining 'lie
faculties to a marked degree, During

A RESIDENT OF BRUSSELS 58 YEARS
the afternoon he went for an automo-
bile drive, meeting numerous old
friends, and iet his residence a great
many called to congratulate Mr. Ross.
He also received greetings by telegram
and card from relatives and friends at
a distance.
All the family were able to be home
for the first time in 16 years, A note-
worthy fact is that out of a family of
8 children only one is missing, viz.,
Mrs. Geo. Haycroft, who passed to her
reward in 1891. Mrs. Pose answered
the Great Roll Call on March 25th,
1908,
Mr, Rosa has reeided in Brussels for
the past 5S years, coming from Sea -
forth, For a good many years he WAS
engaged in business as a merchant
tailor, selling out to his sou, D. O., 41
years ago. Galashiels, Scotland, was
the birthplace of our townsman, July
5th, 1828, being his natal day. He
carne to Canada in his 20's.
'In ohhrch relationship Mr. Ross has
always been a Presbyterian and in
politics he holds affiliation to the Lib-
eral party.

While life is uncertain present ap-
pearancee point to the possibility of
Mr. Ross rounding out the century.

great age, without pain or ache, re-
ceives the best of care and if good
wishes will help in the extension of
life's span he will out -do the 100 mark,
