HAVE a word of good cheer to tbe
captains of industry who have invested,
possibly, every dollar they possessed in
origioattng or organizing avenues for
the employment of labor and who often
are worried and troubled as to the out-
come, Often an expression of apprecia-
tion, a metaphorical pat on the back or
a'recommend to somebody else, would
do much to smooth the road and encour-
age a person to continue to push. Wben
business is slack, bilis failing due and
collections difficult to make and "When

properly, with the result that indiges-

ery for her. Read how two bot tle-s of
Dreca restored her whole system by
toning and regulating these important
organs.
For years T had stomach, kidney
and liver trouble. Everything I ate
would cause me to belch and bloap and
often had pains around tuy heart and
in my back so bad I could hardly stoop
over. My liver was sluggish, causing
dizzy spells and spots floating before
ray eyes. All these troubles stopped
wheel' I started taking Duce. My
bowls are regular, I have a good ap-
petite and sleep all through the night
without getting up. I feel reach
stronger and my day's work is nova
pleasure. I am glad I heard about

Barrie ; Mrs. 8. Vale, (Margaret),
Toronto ; Mrs, Cecil Simpson (Loniee)
Bruoefield, and Mre. T. 0. Joynt
(Florence) Hensail, gathered for the
Galdeu Weddiug anniversary of their
parents.
Thos. Jobueton, Althorn, had a nar-
row escape from a very serious •. ac-
cident. While working around a 3 -
horse engine, one of his legs was
caught by the drive belt and he was
,thrown against the pulley on the
generator of their lightiug plant.
Luckily for Torn the belt was an old
one and it broke, thus freeing his leg
before it was drawn around the pul-
ley. Tom is congratulating himself
that he Wrts not forced to eat his New
Year turkey In bed.
KILT DBY OArnetea 8, -Mrs, Edgar
Bollyman, Lu'eknow, received a sad
Obristtnas message when site read it
short
despatch from
S doe Aus-
tralia, Sydney, ,
telling is of the d
1e each of her
brothr, George Penrose, who, accord-
ing to the despatch, had been killed
by savages on the island of New
Guinea. Mrs. Hollytnan knew that
her brother Was in Dutch New Guinea
and that he was one of 6 or 6 white
men on that part of the Ieiand, so
there could be no mistake as to the
identity of the Blain man, The des-
patch stated that Penrose with a
company of 25 natives Kid been in -
and about 400 miles on an expedition.
hey were surprised by savages and
Penrose and 3 of his men were killed.
eorge Penrose at the age tiff 16 years
Went to Australia as a sailor and was
here almost continually until tate out-
teak of the Great 4yar, when a
curious combination of 'circumstances
ended hint on the British section of
he Island of New Guinea, where dgyr-
ng the war he played au itnportelht
part in assisting the Australian forces
o take pdssession of the Getman part
the island. He sent letters to hie
people when n circumetanoea permitted.
