day a handful of early hay, well headed
out, that measured a full 3 feet, With
showers and sunshine it; should make a
record.

that town. • Score was I-2. Listowel

DON'T miss the Play. "I can't afford
it," in the Town Hall Friday evening of
this week. Performers come from Bel -
grave and the Play is under auspices of
the choir of St. John's church and is
well worth seeing and bearing, Bills,
dodgers and advt. give fuller informa-

SEIMNE= IT,—Last week the road
grader in the hands of Robt. Oliver and
propelled by Moody Holland's bays,
peeled the Base Ball diamond on Vic-
toria Park and dirt a good job. Few
better infields, or outfields for that mat-
ter, are to be found. The anti bothers
the right fielders a trifle hut we're afraid
we can't do much to obviate that.

Junior Intermediate Foot Ball here was

and closely matched game, with P.
Stevenson, Ethel, tor Referee, Ethel
won by z -o. Both teams played well —
Friday evening last Lucknow Base Ball
q crossed bats with Brussels in the open-
ing game in the North Wellington
League. It was a crackerjack of a
game, real professional at times and so
close that Victory hung in the balance
until last innings, Brussels won score
being g.8, Our team does well and are
worthy of hearty support.—Atwood's
sturdy Intermediate Foot Ball Ix were
here Monday evening and put it over
our lads by 2 to 0. The game was
not as one sided as the score mightin-
dicate, the last goal being scored just
before the close. Referee Silts, Sea-
forth, gave good satisfaction. He ruled
off one of the visitors for tripping but
this was the only one penalized. Lack
of space this Week compels a condensed
report.

early age she married the late Henry

zeal that was often a wonder. After her

with St. John's church. As a member
of the Choir, Young People's Society

ably and faithfully and in a cheery mea-
ner that was often an inspiration to her
co -laborers. The funeral, on Monday,
proved the high esteem in which she
was held by Brussels and community.
A most appropriate service was held in
St. John's church, which was well filled,
Rev. Mr. Johnson, rector, being assisted
by Rev. Mr, Snell, of Wingham. In his
address the rector praised the faithful-
ness, willingness and kindliness of de-
ceased and urged the emulation of her
virtues. J G Jones snug the tonebiug
solo "We'll meet again, it won't be
long" ant the choir followed with a fun-
eral hymn. In addition to a floral pil-
low from the coogregatioo were other
beautiful tokens from relatives and
friends, the church being adorned with
boque's and banks of valley lilies and
