THE LATE Mae J. R. GRANT.—The
Winnipeg Free Press of October 5th
speaks as follows of a former well known
Brusselite :—"Mrs, J. R. Grant, who
died on Saturday, was well and
favorably known in Winnipeg, where
she has resided for over 3o years. She
was very loyal to her many friends who
in return esteemed her highly for bar
many good qualities of head and
heart. She has been an invalid
for the past 6 years, but always
bore her trials with the•greateyt fortitude
and without complaint, She was a
member of Knox church and for many
years was a regular attexdant until the
illness from which she died laid hold
upon her. She leaves to mourn her loss
a husband. a son, A. M. Nay, posttnast-
er at Stratford, Ont„ Helen the wife of
W. H, Kerr, publisher of Brussels POST,
Agnes W. (Nessie) and Jessie M. Grant.
The letter two daughters and Mr. Grant
were present when the end came some•
what suddenly in spite of everything
that medical aid and the most devoted
attentions ot those of ber household
could do. `•the also leaves a brother, A
H, Kay, of Dundas, Out., Maggie (Nits.
Lowry) of Newton, Kansas and Isaac, a
bookseller, of Kansas City. Interment
was made beside her tnother, who died
zo years ago. The funeral of Mrs. j. R,
Grant took place from the family resi-
dence at g6 Home street to St. John's
cemetery Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Rev. F. B Duval officiated at the aer-
viee at the house. Rev. Dr. Laidlaw
pastor of Knox church was also present
and assisted in the service. Dr Duval
is pastor emeritus. Miss Winona Light -
cap rendered an impressive and ap-
propriate solo, "My Ain' Countrie,"
There were many beautiful floral trib-
utes, testifying to the esteem in which
Mrs. Grant was helot by those who knew
her best. The pallbearers were P. D
MoKineon, James A. Oras, Harold 3,
Morden, A N. McPherson, John Mc-
Whitter and Alexander Brown." An
old friend writing Tex Posr regarding
the demise said what was true In the
sentence "Everybody who knew Mrs,
Grant loved her." Mrs, Grant's highest
ideal of life was to live for others and
she illustrated it beautifully and practic-
ally every lay, leaving a fragrant metn-
ory to her wide circle of relatives and
friends. Mr. Grant will likely spend the
coming Winter in California, as has
been his custom and the 2 daughters
'nay come to Ontario for au extended
visit with relatives and friends.
