There died at the home of his neice,
Mrs. Thomas Dougal), 14th Con., Hui.
lett township, Monday morning, Jan.
19th, Daniel McGavin, an old and
highly teepeoted resident of this sec-
tion, at an advanced age. For some
yenta prior to his death he was a
great Buffeter from rheumatism and
toward the last was almost helpless.
The late Daniel McGavin was born at
Ayr, Scotland, on New Year's Day,
1838 and came to Canada with his par-
ents in 1854, when they settled in
Stanley Township, Huron County,

HYMENEAL, -At high noon Wed-
nesday of last week a quiet wedding
took place at the home of Robert and
Mrs. Mitchell, Howiek township,
when Mise Agnes H., the eldest
daughter joined hand and heart with
Gordon I3. Elliott, of Wawanosh,
Rev. 0. Malcolm officiating. Lohen-
grin's Wedding march was played by
the bride's sister, Miss Laura, as the
principals took their places for the
ceremony, the bride being given away
by her father. A becoming coseume
of crepe de chine with tulle ivory
veil, and white slippers, was worn by
the bride, who carried a bognet of
carnations and sweet peas. Groom's
gift to organist wee a pearl crescent,
Wedding presents were choice, valu-
able and useful. Parlor' was decorat-
ed with palms, ferns and carnations.
After hearty congratulations the
guests, numbering 20, set down to
well spread tables, Bride's going

mons. The illustrated lecture on
Monday evening on "Our Allies" was
a real treat. Proceeds of anniversary
$185 00. Since then $100.00 of this has
been sent to the suffering Armenians.
Knox Church, Monceicfte has closed
her best year of Church work. The
total raised was $2485.00. The _a -
Mount given to Missions was $810.00.
A live Forward Movement committee
bus been appointed with Marshal
Harrison as Oaptain. Teams are out
canvassing this week and the results
will far exceed the amount of $1800
allocated, Last Sabbath after the
pastor bad explained the Movement
and called for gifts, $1700 was

HOCKEY. -Last Saturday afternoon
the skating rink here was the scene of
great attraction, the occasion being a
Hockey nfatoh between the married
and single men. Game was close and
exciting, resulting in a score of 3 to 5

51s1 year, She had been operated oil
the previous Sunday for appendicitis
It was found that the appendix teas
ruptured and the patient stood little
chance of recovery and the wonder
was she survived ae long as she did.

OKell was given a hearty invitation
to continue as pastor. The minimum
salary is paid. The rev, gentleman
accepted the invitation with words of
approval for the Board and member-
ship for their cordiality and brother-

toon, Jan. 28th, Ilex M., beloved eon of
Robert Mathere, of .Bluevale. De-
ceased had taken sick on Friday, was
taken to the Hospital on Tuesday
morning, wa8 operated on for ap-
pendicitis and died early Wednesday
