14X4IEE TuRSTBULL ANSAV ERS THE
CA.LL.---The people of this breathy
were sorry to hear last Friday morn-
ing that James Turnbull, an old and
well known resident of Con. 4, Grey,
had passed away. It was not a sur-
prise to the community as he has been
hovering near the bonier land for the
week previous. Although a hearty
man in his earlier years hishealth had
been impaired by a broken leg, oc-
casioned 0 years ago by a fall from a
wagon and in December 1010 a simi-
lar act:Went happened while he was
working in the stable, from a kicklby
a horse. Coupled with these misfoe•
tunes followed a long siege of neuritis
and for years the subject 01 11118 nodes
was unable to get about as was his
wont. At times he was a great suf-
ferer. Mr. Turnbull was born at Ayr,
Ontario, being the first male child in
the community, He came to Grey
township 53 years ago, buying the
farm on which he died, viz Lot 5, 00(1,
4, and upon which he resided continu-
ously. A year after his atTiyal he
joined hand and heart with Miss
Agnes Milne, at GAN, who survivee
and peeved herself a true helpmate in-
deed. The other members or the
family are James, of London, and Jno,
Gem ge and William, and Mrs. George
McFarlane, of Grey township, and
Mrs. John Doig, nette Wroxetet. For
many years Mr. Turnbull took an ac-
tive interest in the well-being of the
locnlity and was honored with the
Reeve's chair and a seat at the County
Council for various terms. He was a
staunch supporter of the Presbyterian
church and a Liberal in politics. For
owe y good word and work "Jimmy"
Turnbull, as he was familiarly called,
bad a friendly word and a helpful
hand and be was the type of a man
that might be safely followed in many
phases or life and be led right. He
commanded the respect of all who
knew him. Deceased was the last of
1314 family out of a family of one
brother, Wm., of Kincardine, and 3
sisters, Mrs. Thos. Cuerie, Thessalon,
Algoma ; Mee. Robert McOosh, Pine
River, Ont. and Mrs. Haggard,
Brown City, Mich. The funeral took
place Monday afternoon to Brussels
cemetery, the service being conducted
by Rev, A, J. Mann, 13. A., deceased's
pastor. The widow and other rela-
tives have the sympathy of a wide
circle in their beseavernent,
