Methodist church pastor, appeared in

when Rev, Mr, Gilmore, Ripley, will

Congregation was organized in 1858
and Rev. W. 10 Young, first pastor,
was inducted in the Fall of that year.
The first Elders were Robert Moffatt,
Richard Miller and Christopher Hamil-
ton. Services for a shrub tine were

building was erected for the worship
of God. It was dedicated by Rev,
Matthew Barr. Present building WaS
erected in 1907 and was opened and
dedicated by Rev. Mr. Martin, Brant-

The many friends here of MISS An-
nie Watson were shocked to hear of
her sudden death in Port Arthur on
Thursday of last week. A eecent let-
ter to her brother James, here, stated
she was well. She was the eldest
daughter of the late W. N. Watson,
and a native of Seaforth, having been
on the teaching staff of the public
school for several years, but latterly
had been teaching at Port Arthur.

Pte, John Hirkconnell Missing
A letter was received from France
by Miss Mary Kirkconuell, 16th (Jon,
Grey township, concerning her broth-
er, Pte. John Kfikcounell, who was
doing duty Inc his King and Country
overseas and was reported "Missing"
after a severe battle last October. It
was hoped he had been taken prisoner
by the Germans but as the months are
slipping by and no tidings from him it
is feared he made the supreme sacri-
fice and may have been buried in a

still hope of him being a prisoner of
