A 6 BY 9 RHYME.
A queer little boy who bad been to school,
And was well up to all aorta of tricks,
Discovered that 9 when upside down,
Would pass for the figure 6.
So when asked hie age by a good old
dame,
The comical youngeter said :
"I'm 0, when I stand on my feet like
this,
And 9 when 'rand on my head.
NOBODY'S KITTY.
Nobody's kitty was out in the snow,
Nobody's kitty had nowhere to go,
Nobody's kitty cried, "Miew.miew•miew 1
Somebody pity me—do, do, do 1”
So somebody peep'd from a window high,
She saw little kitty, and heard her ory ;
Somebody patter'd down stair by stair,
With blue, blue eyes, and with golden
hair.
Somebody gather'd the wanderer in—
Nobody's kitty. so cold and thin ;
Nobody's kitty was somebody's pet,
Ha, ha I my tale is not ended yet.
Somebody's doggie barked, "Bow -wow.
wow 1
So I'm to be nobody's doggie now I"
"Fie I" said his mistress, "fie 1 that is
not true,
I've room in my heart for both kitty and
,yon."

David Campbell, while drawing a load
of wheat to Carr's mill, was nearly pre-
cipitated into the river. It seems that
one of the iron bream in one of the needle
beame was broken in some way by the
ice or other debris passing under the
bridge, and when -Mr. Campbell drove on
to the bridge with his load it sunk about
eighteen inches where the wagon stood,
and had it not been for Mr. Campbell's
presence of mind in urging his horse,
there is no doubt but a portion of the
bridge would have broken down. As it
woe, the horse pulled the load up and on
to the firm part of the bridge all right,
without any damage being done.
