W. C, T. U. will be held in the Metho-
dist clsurch here on Tuesday and Wed-
nesday of next week. An interesting
program will be presented. Dinner and
tea will be served to the delegates in
the school room of the church.

VERY successful was the Fall Millinery
opening at Mrs. McKinley's last week
when the new styles were dilly admired
by the fair visitors. The ladies now
have it within their power to obtain the
most fashionable goods at very moder-
ate prices at any of the three millinery
stores in Brussels.
BOWLERS' CONCERT,—Thursday even-

duets. The next debate will discuss
"Resolved that Moses was a greater
character than Paul."
BASE BALL—Friday afternoon a Base
Ball contest was waged on Victoria Park
by nines representtng the North and
South of the , Maitland, designated as
"Brooklyn" and "New York." Five

winning by 8 to 5. The teams were

GASOLINE ENGINE INSTALLED.—John
Cober, Carriage maker. Brussels, has
been used to machinery almost his whole
life so it is not to be wondered at that he
should not rest satisfied unless he heals
the hum. A 5 horse power upright
gasoline engine, manufactured by the
Gilson Co., of Guelph, has been placed
in his carriage shop and will supply the
motive power for a band saw, pony
planer, shaper, buzz planer, lathe and
emery wheel. J, J. Gilpin, 01 town,
made the sale. Mr. Cober will now be
able to turn out his work more quickly
and with greater ease.

annual meetiug of the Women's Mission-
ary Society board of the Canadian
Methodist Church closed Friday, The
main appropriations were made as fol-

very praiseworthy exhibits.
In the Ladies' Department, always
good at this Fair, a. larger and better
assorted display would be very diffi-
cult to fled. Fine Arts -are also there
in an attractive array and the Judges
have no 5hteenre in making the
awards.
Roots and vegetables, fruit, Domes-
tic Manufactures and flowers and
plants are always commendable but
this year's Fair presents a specially
meritorious record not surpassed by
the big exhibitions. As THE Posy
goes to press the Judges etre busy al-
locating theared, blue and white tick-
ets.
Thursday evening the Halt will be
well lighted with electricity tint] an
interesting program of instrumental
and vocal tnusla will be presented. As
the admission fee is only 10 cents a
good opportunity is afforded tite pub-
lic to see the indoor exhibit nt a very
nominal figure and minus the crowd-
ing of Friday.
Friday's Bill of Faro.
In addition to the large show of ex-
cellent live stock some of the other in-
teresting features will be Music by
Wingharn Citizens' Band, who play
well ; Highland music and dancing by
PiperMacDouald. and his petite daugh-
ter, Miss Mabel, in full costume.
Then there are three speeding events
viz. t—A colt ball toile race, a Named
race and n 3 minute contest. Alen a
spirited competition for best buggy
horse owned by a farmer for prizes
offered by the Standard. Bank. There
will be footraces for the boys and
girls and the afternoon's performance
will be concluded by It farmer's team
hitching race to lumber wagon mid
once round the mile track.
Entries are being received for the
judging of thoro' bred cattle by boys
of 16 years and under, for which three
good prizes are offered, This feature
is timed for 1 o'clock.
A Moving Picture Sbow and other
interesting and clean sources of enter-
tainment will be ready to please the
crowd.
