The Jamestown g&rts intend playing
a friendly game of baseball with ,the
Bluevale girls in Bluevale on Saturday
evening next. A good time is anti-
cipated.
Mr. Alex. Johnston, accompanied

visitors with the latter's sister, Mrs.

FRUIT NEWS
Plums will be at their" best the last
two weeks in August. The; first to
get to market are the Gages and Em-
banks, The Burbank is the best Jap•
anese plum, Everybody knows the
preserving qualities of the Gages. The
quality this season is unusually fine
and it will be well to put down an ex-
tra supply. Early Rivet' and Alexan•
der peaches are also ready. They are
both supremely delicious sliced with
cream. The Triumph is the first yet•
low fleshed peach, and excellent for
canning, Better quality will be ob
twined both in peaches and plums if

the pulpit in the Presbyterian Church
on Sunday.
The people of this community were-
shocked to hear of the sad accident
that happened at Purvis' Lake on
Sunday when Mr. Charlie Lockhart a
young man of about -seventeen met
his death by drowning. It is the first
drowning accident that has ever hap-
pened at the lake and has caused a
gloom eve • the neighborhood.

At Banal' we had a whole day but it
was not long enough to visit the many
interesting places sf the surrounding
district. However all enjoyed a bath
in the hot sulphur spribge.
The Mayor of Caigery took the
party around the city in the observa-
tion car, Afterwards we lead tines to
yieit the stores and had a good view of
the city from the top of the big C. P.

We arrived in Medicine Hat about
five in the evening. The party was
entertained by the board c f trade. The
programme started in the park at a
quarter to seven, After some short
apeechea, we were taken for a drive
through the city in autos, supplied by
the citizens, On the way we stopped
at the Clay Products Works and saw
theta burning tile with natural gas.
At the "Reseries," large greenhouses,
each member of the party was given a
large bouquet of carnations. At nine
we were taken to see a gas well blow.
off..• IG was a wonderful eight. They
told us the last shooting of a gas well
previous to this was for Sir Wilfrid
Laurier, two years ago.
The remainder of the way we were
travelling continuously with the ex
cepti.an of half a day in Regina and a
day in Winnipeg. This part is too
well known to need any description,
-We arrived in Toronto on the fourth
of August, just thirty days from the
time we started.
