Mr. John A. cLean has received
word that, his con in, Rev. Donald Me -
Kenzie, dropped ead in the station at
Minneapolis as he was waiting to take
a traiti home afte having delivered a
brilliant address a banquet of Clan
Stewart, Of the Sons of Scotland.
When he left the hall and right up ,to
the time of his • ath, Rev. Mr. Mc,
Kenzie was apps eptly in the best of
health. He vvas 6 years ..ef age, and
was born near L cknow. After grad -
tutting from Ha line University, he
was appointed pa tor of the Methodist
Church in Excel kir in 1902. He re -

Death of s. Henderson.
The people of t is district were sur -
prized on Saturd afternoon to learn
of the death of s. Thomas Hender-
son, at her home o John street. The
deceased lady ha been troubled for
some time with he heart and passed
away very sudden] Mrs. Henderson's
maiden name was Sharlotte Gray, and
she was born in the Township of Wil-
mot, Waterloo Cou ty, ori May 30th;
1842, and when a y ung girl she came
up to Turnberry Township with her
parents and other embers of the fam-
ily. On the 22nd of November, 1861
she was married the late Thomas
Henderson, who •assed away on the
23rd of Novembe last, the day follow-
ing the fiftieth anniversary of their
wedding. For nihny years Mrs. Hen-
derson resided in Morris Township on
the Bluevale roa , just east of Wing -
ham and a few ears ago moved into
Wingham. She vent through all the
trials and hardships incident to pioneer
life and -was hel in high esteem in the
community. Fo many years she had
been a member St. Andrew's Pres-
byterian Church. Deceased family con-
sisted of twelve hildren and is survived
by four „sons end three daughters, viz:
—Mrs. John H nry, Brandon, Man.;
George, Of Dunc n, B.C.; William J.,
on the homeste d, Adam and Misses
Emma and Mag ie, at home, and T.
Edgar, of Leer sse, Wis. Five broth-
ers and two sis ers also suruive, viz: —
Mrs. Thos. J nkins, Bluevale road;
Mrs. Murray, ult Ste Marie, Mich.;
John Gray, To onto; Joseph A. Gray,
Turnberry; Th s. Gray, Wingham; Wm.
Gray, Howicl ; Jerry Gray, Bruce
Mines. The f neral will take place
this (Thursd ) afternoon at 2.30
o'clock for t Wingham cemetery.
Service at the ouse at 2 o'clock.

School Seniors played th Ripley Nor-
thern League team here. This is the
team that is giving L know such a
hard battle for the eh mpionship of
the Northern League in is district but
our boys played them o' their feet and
won by a score Of 11 Before our
boys could get warmed p Ripley scor-
ed three but this was a out their lim-
it and the High School e .t to work and
tied the score before ha f time. After

Health of th Province.
Except for increa es in the number
of cases of whoopi g cough and diph-
theria, the health •f the people of On-
tario during the • : st month shows an
all-round improv: • ent upon last year's
January record. The largest reduc-
tion was in the number of cases of
typhoid, due to t e fact that in Janu-
ary, 1910, the Ot wa typhoid epidemic
was at its wors .. The apparent in-
crease in the nu ber of tuberculosis
cases is accounte for by the fact that
this disease is eing reported more
than in the past.

of another worth and popular couple
of this district in he persons of Mr.
and Mrs. John Ag ew, of Lower Wing -
ham. ' Mr. and M . Agnew were mar-
ried in Blyth on t e 7th of February,
1861 and settled o their farm on the
9th concession f East Wawanosh.
Mr. AgneW wa hewn near Peterboro
and when sevent en years of age came
with his paren to East Wawanosh.
Mr. Agnew and is father had to chop
their way throu h the bush from Au-
burn to the orig nal Agnew homestead
on the 9th cone ssion of East Wawa-
riosh., Mr. A new's parental hone
was for years t e second stopping place
between Goder h and Winghain for
the early set ers. Mrs. Agnew's
maiden name w s Margaret Oak and
she was born Puslinch Township,
near Guelph a d when a young lady
taught school on the 9th of East
Wawanosh and ere met Mr. Agnew.
Mr. and Mrs. new resided for forty
years on the fa m and ten years ago
moved ter Lo er Wingharn. There
family 'Consists of five sons and four
daughters all o whom are living, viz:

homestead in est Wawanosh ; Misses
Hannah and A ilia Agnew, nurses in
Philadelphia4P ; Miss Mary Agnew,

annual grant of $2e0.
On motion of Reey McDonald and
Come VanStone, th usual grant of
$200.00 was made to t e Hospital.
Mr. Richard Clegg, hairman of the
• Hospital Board was pr sent and thank-
ed the Council for the grant and in-
formed the Council t e Hospital had
last year been very hea ily taxed with
free patients and othe patients who
were not able to pay t e full cost of
treatment.
The Electric Light a d Waterworks
Committee reported tha they had been
endeavoring to make a ettlement with
R. A. Dinsley, who had last fall lost a
fingerswhile at work on the waterworks
well. The Committee had offered to
settle with Mr. Dinsley at three-quarter
wages and paying his octor's bill, but
-Mr. Dinsley had refus d to sign a re-
lease.
Moved by Own. Mott and Reeve
McDonald, that R. Dinsley be paid
$123.15 in full settle ent of his claim
and that he sign a r lease relieving the
Town of any further liability.—Carried.
Mr. Dinsley was p esent and said the
settlement would be atisfactory,
