°OLDEN DANDELIONS.
(Dedicated to HeatherbelL) .
The lovely golden dandelions,.
Studded.to-day—the emerald grass ;
To greet the Indian summer sun.
Which none other grandeur could
surprise.
No leaves were left to greet their com-
ing,
The autumn rains their beauty did
mar.;
No song -bird's trill charmed their
golden hearts,
For they had flown to their homes
afar.
But they bloomed to cheer the hearts
of all,
After snowflakes in their madness
fell,
Trying to crush them to earth again,
That no longer could we feel their
spell.
So come again ye golden flowery,
Before the roses are in full bloom ;
For they would fade did we bet prelim
thee,
For well they know ye have no per-
fume.
