QUiTE A BURDEN MVCA Chairman Lorne Murray of Moorefield admitted the extra repair costs will be quite a burden to the authority and some of the members are not in favor of spending so much money, but he wants to see the project completed and is satisfied the costs won't go any higher. While the project will take more than a year's budget out of the budget area it is charged against, it, isn't going to shut down the conservation authority, he added. "It's just going to make a big hole in the parks and recreation budget." He noted the funding allotment hasn't been settled yet, but if the authority can't get all the money from the ministry this year it can be put back in the budget again next year. "we will have to sacrifice some other projects, that's trtie." Mr. Murray pointed out that when the Bluevale Dam was repaired the original estimate was $39,000,while the final costs amounted to $143,000 and said he thinks the authority will get as good value from the Gorrie Darn at $200,000. It would cost about $80,000 to demolish the dam, he reported, while a verbal estimate set the cost of complete replacement at $65o,000, If there's more than .6 cm.
