Parade of pipers
kicks off festival
North America's largest
Parade of the Pipers is kicking
up a rousing storm through
downtown Toronto today, Aug.
15.
More than 2,000 pipers and
drummers take part in the
colorful parade which launches
the 1979 Scottish World Festival
Tattoo, Aug. 18-19, at the CNE's
Exhibition Stadium.
The parade features pipe bands
and military bands from
Scotland, Australia, England,
Northern Ireland, the United
States and Canada.
The glory and pageantry of
Scotland's colorful heritage will

Belgrave Kinsmen entered their
two floats in the Wingham
parade. The donkey delighted
and surprised everyone while the
wagon float advertised the Kins-
men Annual Pork Roast. Bel -
grave Kinsmen won the tug-of-
war and placed second in the bed
races. Two Kinsmen, Murray
Shiell and Ron Cook won the log -
sawing contest.
On Aug, 6, the donkey float en-
tertained the crowds at the Tees -
water Firemen's parade.
On Aug. 3, the Belgrave Kins-
men pr=ovided the manpower for
the bars at the centennial dance
in Wingham in the arena and at
the Bavarlali gardens on Dia-
gonal Road In Wingham.

Highland Fusiliers from Britain
