Mrs., Pere Stainton dies
suddenly at her residence

Saturday, July 14. The farmer
Irene Esther Gosling, sbe was in
her 72nd year.
Mn. Stainton was barn Oc-
tober 11, 1907, in Norwood,
County of London, England. She
was a daughter of the late Ed-
ward Francis Gosling and Esther
Elizabeth Jinks. She came to
Canada with her parents as a
child and received her education
at Oakville and later at Lindsay.
On June 17, 1829, she married
Mr. Stainton in Oshawa. They
moved to Wingham in 1940 when
Mr. Stainton purchased the
hardware store here which has
been in the Stainton name since
that time. He passed away on
November 29, 1974.
Mrs. Stainton was a member of
the Wingham United Church and
belonged to Huron Chapter 89,
Order of the Eastern Star, of
which she was a Past Matron.
Members of the Order conducted
a memorial service in the Currie -
Walker Funeral Home (Walker
Chapel) on Monday evening at
seven o'clock.
Left to mourn her passing are
two daughters, Barbara of
Wingham and Mrs. Bill
(Marlene) Danchuk, Barrie; two
sons, Murray of Wingham and
Neil of Agincourt; and nine
grandchildren. There are two
sisters, Mrs. Edna Toplis,
Toronto, and Mrs. Edith
Edgarton, Peterborough. She
was predeceased by a daughter
Bernice in infancy and a son
Maurice on April 6, 1976.
Rev. K. Barry Passmore
conducted the funeral service on
Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the
fuaer4l home. Interment

her final resting place in Gorrie
Cemetery by Gordon Gibson,
Jack Leppington, Cloyne Michel,
Wes Galloway, Fred Hayden and
Don Leader.
Mrs. Stewart was born 77 years
ago in Howick Township and was
the former Irene Pearl Rever.
Her parents were the late Conrad
Rever and Elizabeth Wolfe: She
received her elementary
schooling in Howick and attended
high school in Clifford. She was a
member of the Gorrie
Presbyterian Church and had
recently received a life mem-
bership in the Women's
Missionary Society.
She is survived by her husband,
Burns, whom she married June
25, 1925; one son, Edward of
Bluevale; two grandchildren and
four great grandchildren. There
is one sister, Mrs. Ray (Eulalie)
Louttit of Fordwich. She was
predeceased by two brothers.
