The Mothers' Auxiliary to
Wingham Minor Hockey has
agreed to operate a food booth in
the Wingham Arena for special
events held in the arena during
centennial week.
The food booth is needed in
order to get a liquor license for a
large number of people in the
arena.
The Wingham Junior Citizens
approached the centennial
committee at the committee's
weekly meeting Thursday to
suggest that a teen dance would
be better attended the Friday
before centennial week, rather
than opposite the centennial ball.
Many teenagers will be called on
to babysit the night of the ball
and some of the older teens may
want to go to the ball themselves,
they argued.

Only two accidents were
reported, with minor injuries
reported in one of them. Richard
German of Blyth was treated for
abrasions at Wingham and
District Hospital after he was
apparently thrown off his
motorcycle and onto gravel on
Dinsley Street, Blyth.
An increased number of traffic
charges were laid because of the
volume of traffic passing through
the area but liquor seizures were
down, police reported.
SENIOR CITIZENS got a lift to and from the centennial police concert last Wednesday
night. Members of the Wingham Police Department, their wives and others transported
the seniors, many in wheelchairs, to F. E. Madill Secondary School to see the Waterloo

released the most recent
statistics concerning motor
vehicle accidents in the province,
indicating that driver -passenger
fatalities have climbed a tragic
76.5 per cent during the first
three months of this year. Taking
into consideration that cars and
trucks are generally safer than
ever before, these statistics point
to Ontario's drivers as the
culprits.
