Mrs. Smith re-elected

GORRIE — Mrs. William A.
Smith was reelected president of
the Women's Missionary Society
of Knox Presbyterian Church at
the November meeting which
was held at the home of Mrs.
Thomas MacDonald. Mrs. Alvin
Mundell conducted the election of
officers.
Others elected were: -.ice-
president, Mrs. David Neilson;
secretary, Mrs. James Robinson;
treasurer WMS, Mrs. Glenn
Underwood; treasurer Ladies'
Aid, Mrs. Burns Stewart; Glad
Tidings, Mrs. Underwood; litera-
ture,. Mrs. William Darling;
press, Mrs. Harvey Adams;
friendship, Mrs. Stewart; supply,
Mrs. MacDonald; social com-
mittee, Mrs. Gordon Moir, Mrs.
Hartwell Strong; nominating
committee, Miss Louise Mat-
thews, Mrs. Charles Finlay.
Following the election of of-
ficers, the aim and purpose of the
WMS were repeated and the clos-
ing hymn, "0 Master, Let me
Walk with Thee", was sung.

Theme of the meeting was
Remembrance. Mrs. Smith
opened the meeting with a read-
ing on the theme and a hymn was
sung. Mrs. MacDonald gave a
reading on "The Poppy — the
Flower of Remembrance" and
scripture from Paul's first lettee
to the f orinthians was read by
Mrs. Stewart. Mrs. Neilson read
the touching poem, "Why Wear a
Poppy?". Mrs. Moir led in prayer
which was followed by two min-
utes' silence.
Miss Matthews, the former,
secretary, read the minutes and a
letter of thanks from the Ford-
wich Village Nursing Home.
Several items of business were
discussed and 11 ladies answered
the roll call with a verse on
Remembrance. The offering was
received and dedicated by Mrs.
Smith.
Following closing prayer by
Mrs. Mundell, refreshments were
served by the hostesses, Mrs.
MacDonald and Mrs. Wilford
King.
