PHONE 355-3451 GORRIE', OpenLine By Gary Johnson, Construction Foreman, Owen Sound Area Bell Canada has a double interest in the famed International Plowing Match, being hosted this week by Bruce County at a site near Walkerton (Sept. 28 to • Oct. 2) -setting up a topnotch comFnuni- cations system and participating itself in the hustle and bustle on the Match grounds. Our planning dates back to February. Since then we've buried 1,100 feet of cable from the site to existing cable facilities. It will stay there and be used at a later date to improve service in the general area. On the 130 -acre Match site we've constructed an 8,300 -foot aerial network so telephone service is available for all tents and displays that line the five avenues on the grounds. " Fifteen public coin telephones are., spotted throughout the site for outgoing phone calls. The phone service for the five-day Match costs $12,000. Bell Canada is also a part of the tent city with a display for the public. Visitors are invited to participate in a guess -the -rate long distance game. We are providing a message centre service in the headquarters building.
