This game was well ,played throughout and was never really out of reach at any time by either team. The next home game for the Brophy PeeWees will likely be a playoff game and it sure would be nice to see some of the local fans come out and support the local boys in action. We have had some very loyal fans at our games and we, as a team, would like to thank them for their loyalty through the year as some of them have never missed a game of ours or of other teams as well. Ironmen are making changes At a recent meeting of the Wingham Ironmen Junior I'D" Hockey Club manager Doug Skinn tendered his resignation. Doug has been managing the team since its birth three years ago. Previous to that time he had been managing the Wingham midget entry in the WOAA since 1966 with the exception of one year. His reasons for resigning are personal. He would like a little time to spend with his family and would like to take a year or so on the sidelines. Don Kennedy, president of the .1rvarn.a il, would like to invite anyone interested to contact him regarding this position. He also stated that an equipment manager will be needed to round t th t 1el Switzer as a cowboy. t7' In bikes, under 8 years, fi;4, Jeff Layton was the'* Devil; second, Wee Wanna Bergiren as the First Rose of Summer and third, Jamie Robinson, as a Pirate. In bikes, 8-10 years, Shelly Tol- ton took first prize, Paul Sbin- son took second as the der Man and Billy Tolton was third. For bikes, over 10 years, Tim Stainton as the Ice Cream Man was the popular first prize win- ner. Sandra Morrison took second prize with her bookmobile. Third place went to Kim McGregor and Maureen Beattie as the Monkey Trainer. There were three families who had double winners which is a first this year, the Switzers, Robinson, and Toltons. The Robinsons have been perennial winners in this judging. Following the parade which wound its way through the crowds of shoppers for Sidewalk Sale Days, the Penny Fair took place in the Armouries rather than the arena. Although the space "was a little cramped the children had a good time at their Brophy Pee VI northern gro The local Brophy Peewee Baseball team took Kincardine on in a game of baseball in the lake shore town Tuesday of last week and handily defeated them 14-5 in a closely played game up until the fifth, when the lads from Wingham scored no less than 8 runs to win. Kincardine had not lost a game in its lea hi h are in each night demolishing the wood work. Won't you also give us a hand in cleaning up? Your help is needed. Call either the arena or Paul Rintoul who is in charge of the demolition. IRONMEN Speaking of the arena the Junior Ironmen are looking for a manager and an equipment manager. Manager Doug Skinn has resigned and the team is looking for new personnel. If you are interested call President Don Kennedy. SUMMER TOT PLAYGROUND Following this week there is only one week to go for the Tot Playground. Then a week of Day Camp. There is still room for Your son or daughter to attend Day Camp for the week of Aug. 2- 6. Those participating will go out in the morning to a camp setting along the Maitland and back at 5 p.m. During the course of that week they will have one over- night sleep out. The game opened up in the bot- tom of the first inning when Wingham sent the first six bat- ters up to hit safely which includ- three doubles in all. Atwood never had a chance in this one as the local boys seemed to have blood in their eyes right from the opening gong to the finish. Also hitting for the local team were Robinson with four hits in- cluding two doubles; Saxton a double and two singles; Edwards a double and a single; Welwood a double and a single; Heard two singles; Casemore two singles; Machan two singles; with singles going to Storey and Brown. Tykes blast Southampton The local Tykes showed no mercy sending to the showers a steady stream of Southampton pitchers as they came up with a big 41 to 11 win in a four -inning game at the local park. And be- lieve it or not, the boys had no less than 20 runs in their half of the fourth. As for the hits, just everyone in the local line-up came up with one or more hits in this one-sided win with home runs being belted out by Bill Haines, Kevin Saxton, Pete Keat, and Robbie Strong the big clouter with a pair of homers. The busiest person at the park was scorekeeper Eleanor Saxton who came out of the game with writer's cramp.
