JULY 1962
The new parking -meters have
been installed on Wingham's
Josephine Street and commenc-
ing this Wednesday will be put
into use. While the meters are
one-hour machines it is legal
under the by-law to park for two
hours, provided of course that the
extra nickel has been put in the
machine at the expiration of the
first hour. There will still be
plenty of parking space available
in areas not controlled by meters.
The Wingham Sportsmen's As-
sociation is organizing a drive to
have motorists install safety
belts in their cars. It will be sell-
ing safety belts at little more than
cost at the town hall and the local
garages will cooperate by instal-
ling them at one dollar each. To
promote car safety, it is the or-
ganization's plan to make it
simple to obtain the belts.
