July 1, 1W6 Blyth Festival ready for opening on July 3 Satnrdey July 9 marks the be- ginniog at secotrd season of the B)lYth;Memer Festival. The Y, , , ; :, . rehearsal period is drawing, to a close and the actors and musicians are enthusiasU- caUy awaiting opening night. Mw opening production is The itsiood is Strong by Lists. Sinclair. The play, which is about a Scot- tish immigrant family on Cape Breton Island, relates well to the population of Huron County be- cause of its Scottish' flavor. The opening in Blyth promises tp be an exciting event. Preced- ing the play there will be a turkey dinner in the lower rooms of the Memorial Hall. The dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. will be catered by the Legion. At shortly after eight a small bagpipe band will play outside the Hall to pipe the audience into the theatre. Following the performance there will be square dancing in the low- er rooms. Music will be provided by the Festival's musicians. Ad mission is free with the price of I theatre ticket and the dances wil continue to be held every Satur day until the end of the Festival August 14. On July 6, Alice Munro will b1 attending the opening of her play How !.Met My Husband. The pla; is a touching story of a younl Huron County girl's love for i barn -storming pilot in the earil fifties. It is filled with warm hu mor and insight and has appea for people of all ages. Tickets are now on sale in th4 Blyth Memorial Hall as well as it outlets in Bayfield, Clinton Goderich, Kincardine, Seaford and Wingham. The playday was held jointly between the public and separate schools, with the seniors at Wingham Public School and the juniors at Sacred Heart School. Playday involved such activities as relays, obstacle courses, baton races and so on.
