ried out the theme. Mrs. Noble
gave a reading and Mrs. Gowdy
read scripture.
The worship service returned
listeners to that first Good Friday
when there was darknllss over
the land until the ninth hour. It

seemed as though love had lost
the fight and good had been over-
come by evil. On Easter, it be-
came clear that Calvary was a
victory, the battle had been won
by God.
Easter never fails to bring its
message of hope and assurance.
So much irreverence and immor-
ality are on the rampage that
people's faith is being under-
mined. Christ and His Church are
being left out.
Easter is both an historical fact
and a present experience. We
celebrate the resurrection in vain
unless the heart within us is cry-
ing, "Christ Is Risen ! " It is this
living Christ who is our world's
hope and strength.
In a closing poem the leaders
stressed the importance of pray-
ing that God's will be done, as did
Jesus that night in Gethsemane.
The business was convened by
leader Mrs. George Underwood.
