The final meeting of the
1982-83 season of the
Mothers' Auxiliary to
Wingham Minor Hockey was
held recently to round up the
year's business. The ladies
expressed thanks to all the
volunteers over the season
and said it was a very suc-
cessful one.
The auxiliary willhave a
substantial donation to make
to minor hockey this fall to
help defray expenses for the
1983-84 season. Special
mention to the . booth cap-
tains who really work well
with their teams to organize
the work weeks.
The '83 executive extends
its thanks to the members of
the Wingham Legion who
sponsored a terrific awards
day celebration. They fed
lunch to all those enrolled in
minor hockey and supplied
their auditorium for the
presentation ceremonies. It

minor hockey executive and

her efforts on both
executives.
A history book has been
compiled to commemorate
the auxiliary's tenth year. It
is to be kept in the trophy
case for future years.
President Dianne Thynne
said she was pleased with the
year and the incoming
president, Mary Houghton,
is hoping for the same ex-
cellent response for her
executive. Special thanks to
Marlene Foxton for her
tremendous job as treasurer.

The first draw of the
Teeswater Agri -Lotto 300
Club for '83-84 was held May
10 with Don Gowland of RR
2, Teeswater, winning the
$500 prize.

BLUEVALE — The last
euchre party of the season
was held Monday night in the
Bluevale Community Hall
with 11 tables in play.
High prizes were won by
Winnie Boyd and Harvey
Timm. Low winners were

Club
News
The summer months are
shaping up as busy ones at
the Wingham Golf Club.
Several in -club activities are
starting in May such as the
opening of the Sunday
Morning Sinners group, the
Wednesday Night Men's
(tonight) and the Friday
"Mixed Nights" opening
May 27.
These mixed nights will be
held every Friday evening
and will feature dances and
card games tied in with a
nine -hole golf event and a
dinner special.
Free clinics will be held for
the ladies Tuesdays and
Thursdays at 1 p.m. and
there will be free lessons for
the active juniors. Other
features offered this year
will be: preferred starting
times Saturdays and Sun-
days which can be booked by
members; special tour-
naments for members;
locker facilities and club
storage; lessons from the
club professional, Ron
Knight, and his assistant,
Scott Shuker; and a fully -
stocked pro shop.
Other events off note
starting in June are the
"Beat the Pro" tour-
naments, the beginning of
the McKinney Tray
elimination, the men's two -
ball best and the ladies"
invitational tournament.
Mr. Knight reminds
golfers that the club house is
open from 8 a.m. in the
morning and a new menu is
being featured.

The following Browndes
earned badges: Lisa
Alexander, thrift badge;
Kendra Machan, book -
lover's; Shannon Robin-
son, explorer's. All the
Brownies received service
stars.
Dawn Craig did Brownies
in other lands. Group A
discussed their camp, Group
B worked on their banquet
favors and Group C did
activities involving balls,
ropes and bean bags.
The Brownies are still
selling cookies.

Mixed league holds banquet
FORDWICH — The 1982-83

held last Tuesday evening at
the Anglican Church. The
ACW ladies catered the
meal.
Following the dinner, a
short business meeting was
held with President Carole
Hohenadel presiding. An
election for the 1983-84 of-
ficers was held. They are:
president, Murray Wilson,
vice president, Bill Gilmer,
and secretary -treasurer,
Peggy Schneider. Following
the election, Gord Matheson
presented the trophies.
The meeting adjourned
with everyone saying they
hoped to return for the fall
season. If interested, call
Peggy Schneider at 291-2986.

INDIVIDUAL AWARD WINNERS from the Fordwich

ner held at the Anglican Church, Fordwich. Winners

Schneider ladies' high triple; Jean Ashley, ladies' high
average; Carole Hohenadel, ladies' high single. Absent
