Don is a man with many hats. He has been applauded for his achievement as an author, a broadcaster, a playwright and as a comic with an extraordinary spry wit. He is also noted for his "sensitivity to Canada — its politics, arts, music, litera- ture and history." Although this year marks his first as host of the ACTRA Awards, Don and Millie, the af- fectionate name given to the ACTRA statue, became acquainted last year when Don and Judy Ingram both picked up honors for Best Radio Interviewer of the Year. Strawberry Ice wins prize in Int. competition Toiler Cranston's Straw- berry Ice has been awarded the Golden Gate Award for Best Program, top prize in the Network Entertainment Category at the San Fran- cisco International Film Festival. Produced by CBC Televi- sion's Light Entertainment Department, Toller Cran- ston's Strawberry Ice beat out more than 30 entries from networks all over the world, including at -least four -- -_--__.— entries from the United States. This is the second time that this program has won international honors.
