Easter Su ay-_;.oming
welcomed by congregation
The lights went on early at
the Wingham United Church
Easter Sunday morning. The
occasion was an Easter
sunrise service and break-
fast. Preliminary prepara-
tions took place Saturday
afternoon when children
from the various . Sunday
School classes came in shifts •
to set up tables and chane
and then set the tables
for breakfast for the 165
people who had purchased
tickets. Sunday morning,
helpers began to arrive at six
o'clock to start the Coffee
and make final preparations.
The service, which began
at 7:30, was led by Ian Ward.
Hap Swatridge, church
organist, and several
members of, the senior choir
led the congregational
singing. Other music was
provided by children of the
Sunday School, accompanied
by Mrs. Rea Grant at the
piano. All pupils sang "I
Live", the Grade 1 and 2
classes sang "Easter Time"
and Grades 3 to 7 sang
"Crucifixion and Resurrec-
tion". Leanne Simpson and

propriate poem while the
Grade 6 and 7 boys gave a
choral scripture reading of
the Easter story. Bill Grant
led in prayer.
The message was
presented by Mrs. Ken
McKague of RR 2, Wingham.
Using an easel and pictures,
plus Easter eggs with
messages inside, Mrs.
McKague spelled out the
true meaning of Easter.

of the congregation,
welcomed people and said
Grace for the breakfast
which was served in the
Sunday, School room.

Laidlaw, who with Mrs.
Grant organized the event,

Sunday School was held
while the servers ,enjoyed
breakfast. All in all,
organizers were pleased
with the response to this
first-time venture. Proceeds
from ticket sales will go to
the church's World
Development, Service and
Relief Fund.
