Cowley Doctors of Chiropractic Announce the Opening of their Office WINGHAM CHIROPRACTIC CENTRE 197 Josephine Street Wingham PHONE 357-1224 Office hours by appointment. Evening & Saturday appointments available. "The Doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." Thomas Edison Inventor & Philosopher WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC? Chiropractic is a natural system of health care which uses no drugs and no surgery. In fact, chiropractic is the largest natural healing profes- sion in the world. Doctors of Chiropractic have a university -level educa- tion equal in hours to that of the average medical doctor in general prac- tice. We know that the nerves to all parts of the body emerge from the spinal cord. We also know, that the nerves control all of the body func- tions. Is it not then logical that disturbances in nerve function cause disturbances in body function, otherwise known as disease? Chiroprac- tors, through gentle spinal, manipulation, normalize nerve function- and thus allow the body to heal itself. Because chiropractic uses no drugs or surgery in its approach, it is completely safe for everybody,' from tiny tots to senior citizens. Further- more, because chiropractors are classed as primary Care health practi- tioners, you do not require a medical doctor's referral to see a "chiroprac- tor. Chiropractic has partial coverage under the OHIP programme. Conditions that have responded to chiropractic care include pain and discomfort in the neck and back, tension headaches, migraines, diz- ziness,-n€uratgiasr pain in the shoulder&and..arms, certain types of pain. in the chest and abdomen, pain in the hips, knees and legs (sciatica), disc disorders, certain digestive disorders and problem with menstrual cycles. The connection between these seemingly unrelated conditions and the spine is that the nerves, which serve all areas of the body, can be ir- ritated directly or indirectly by spinal disorders. Even people suffering from arthritis find great relief with chiropractic care, although complete cures for arthritis are not possible. Frequently Spinal problems start in childhood, years before clinical symptoms appear. Identified early, most of these disorders are reversi- ble, and it is for this reason that spinal examinations of children are im- perative. Student lob centre ends season The Canada Employment Centre for Students at Listowel will wrap up its sulmmer activities this Friday. In announcing the closing for the season, John Chippa, manager of the parent office, the Canada , Employment Centre, said student operations increased 10 per cent over last year. Students were placed in 329 full-time jobs and 150 casual and part-time jobs were found. The number of students seeking work through the centre was down 30 per cent from 1980, he said, which is in keeping' with the general •trend across the country. It indicates there were fewer students Looking for work and more jobs available than in past years. Mr. Chippa expressed gratitude to the community for its support of the program, including em- ployers, householders and the media. Throughout the entire campaign, there has been support and encourage- ment, he said. ' The Canada Employment Centre will continue to help students looking for part- time work dining the fall and winter. Students should contact the centre to indicate their desire for work, if they have not\ already done so. The student centre will reopen ne4 February.
