Wingham BPs advanced to'
the WOAA major finals with
a 3-2 victory over the Owen
Sound GTO here last Thurs-
day night. They will meet the
winner of the Rostock -Ayr
series.
Doug Petteplace pitched a
strong game in leading •
Wingham to the win,. which
gave the team a 2-0 sweep of
the playoff series.
Owen Sound jumped off to
an early 1-0 Iead in the game,
but the BPs came back with
two runs in the bottom of the
third inning to take the lead.
It appeared for a time that
the scoring would end there,
as neither team was able to.
push any. runs across
although Wingham had the
better chances.
A solo homer in the eighth
gave GTO a 2-2 tie, but it was
short lived as Grant Coultes
ste.pped up to the plate in the
bottom of the eighth and
drove the ball over the fence
in right centre field to clinch
the win.
This 'backed up a 5-3 BP
win in ()wen Sound the
previous night. Ed Daer
BRUCE SKINN was thrown out at home plate on a force play with the bases
loaded in the third inning of the game between Wingham and Owen Sound GTO
last Thursday. BPs got their bats going in the third and scored two runs after GTO
had taken a 1-0 lead.
