WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE?—Youngsters in the playground
program operated by the Wingham recreation department were in-
vited to come last Friday dressed as what they want to be when they
grow up. Jeremy Creeden said he is going to be a cop, like his dad, '
while Neil Mowbray was a shy and rather temperamental tennis
player. Jonathan Blazer Balzer was a carpenter, Greg Colquhoun a
fire chief and Chad Creeden a, fireman. Christy Armstrong came
dressed as a witch, but confided that she doesn't really want to be
one. Their leader was an astronaut.

of elegant white silk organza

neckline and long sheer bell .
sleeves gathered into cuffs.
Guipure lace trimmed the •
bodice and sleeves and also
was featured on the hemline
of the semi-full. skirt which
fell into a chapel train:A
matching headpiece was
trimmed with lace and seed
pearls and held a• three-
quarter -length veil. which
was edged•with guipure lace. ,
She carried a. pscide
bouquet of . mauve cym-
bidium orchids and White
stephanotis. • .
Matron of honor was Mrs..
Sharon Anne Martin of
Pickering, sister of the
bride. She wore a lavender
floor -length jersey . gown
Styled with gathered bodice,
crisscross spaghetti straps
.and chiffon cape. The
bridesmaids were Margaret
Prirrieau, Kasey Marie
Martin, niece of the bride,
and Janet Primeau. Another
niece, Kerry Anne Martin,
and Lisa Primeau served as
junior bridesmaids. The
bridesmaids were dressed
alike in floor -length lilac
gowns with sheer printed'
overlay and chiffon frill
enhancing the skirts and
matching sheer capes.
Each attendant wore a
hairpiece, of Johie primroses
and pink daisies and carried
a nosegay of mauve orchids,
pink arid blue primroses and
white baby's breath.
The flower girl, Shari
' MacLeod of Toronto, was
charming in a floor -length.
gown of white silk organza
with frilled bib bodice and
soft hemline flounce. She
carried a white lace basket
of blue and pink primroses
and wore a bandeau of
rosebuds, daisies and baby's
breath in her hair.
The ringbearer, Scott
Martin, nephew°of the bride,
wore a white tuxedo and
carried, a white satin cushion
covered with Chantilly lace,
white satin ribbon holding
• the wedding bands,.
Kevin Andrews of Toronto
• was best man and senior
ushers were Michael
Primeau, David Primeau •
and Kevin Primeau. Junior
ushers were nephews of the
bride, Shawn and Shane
Martin, who ushered their
grandmother to the front
pew before joining the senior
ushers.
Out-of-town guests were
from Cornwall, Toronto,
Scarborough, Pickering,
Ajax, Ottawa,. • Quebec,
Turkey Point, Tillsonburg,
Walkerton, Mildmay,
Belgrave, Auburn, Tiverton
and London. Honored guests
were the bride's godparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Di
Nova off Scarborough; and
the groom's godfather,
Clifford Parisien.
-The reception was held at
the Wingham Legipn Hall.
Receiving cithe .guests, the
bride's mother wore a floor -
length gown of horizon blue
Qiaria jersey with round
neckline, waistline • sash,
three -tiered skirt and long
trumpet sleeves. She wore a
corsage of white cymbidium
orchids. The groom's mother
chose a floor -length gown of
coral silk jersey with three-
quarter -length matching
jacket and a crescent cor-
sage of mauve roses.
For travelling, the bride
chose a street -length two-
piece chiffon dress with
white and mauve ac-
cessories and a corsage of
mauve and purple roses.
Mrs. Sally Campeau and
the Sacred Heart Senior Folk
Choir provided special. music
before and ,during the
ceremony and Laurie
Metcalfe played the flute
just prior to the processional
hymn. Music for the
reception was provided by
the Nite Lites.

Day Centre News
Last week the Day Centre
for the Homebotind was very
busy. All three days viewed a
film called "Nahanni". This
film documents the amazing
physical feats . of Albert
Faille, who at- 72. is still
searching far the legendary
gold mine. Filmed in
Canada's Northwest Terri-
tory, it has beautiful photo -

holds meeting
The executive of the
Wingham and District
branch of the Canadian Dia-
betes Association recently
met at the home of Isabelle
Burke. Attending as guests
were Michael Salter,
regional director of CDA for
this area, and Don Boos,'
president of the Ontario divi-
sion of the diabetes associa-
oii tion who answered ques-
tions and clarified points
about the running of a
branch.
This branch is pleased to
announce that three diabetic
children living in the area
are being partially spon-
sored at Camp Huronda, a
camp for children with
diabetes, through its fund-
raising efforts.
The executive also dig'r
cussed .money -making ven-
tures for the upcoming year.
Plans for the first meeting
in the fall were finalized. Bob
McMurray, a man handi-
capped through diabetes,
will be the guest speaker.
The meeting will be held
Sept. 24 at the Wingham
United Church. Watch for

The Tuesday and Wednes-
day groups were busy
making sailboat tray favors
for the hospital auxiliary,
while,our Thursday group
workeon fish mobiles.
, As usual, all three groups
took part in a sing -song,
exercises and a few, games of
cards or checkers.
On Aug. 27 the gfoup has
booked a matinee per-
formance at Blyth for the
play "He Won't Cotne In
From the Barn". Presently
25 seats have been reserved
and the seniors are looking
forward to seeing the play.
Next week at the centre,
Lloyd 'Casemore will be our
guest speaker, discussing
glaucoma. The Wednesday
and Thursday groups will be
viewing a slide -tape pre-
sentation done by the Uni-
versity of Guelph.
Rita Rice is having two
weeks holiday and Doreen
Mali is coordinating the
activities at the centre. We
all welcome Mrs. Mali back
after a year's absence. Marg
Pollock is on holida'ys this
week and next. Ruby
Querengesser from Ethel
will fill in for her, .We
welcome George Grigg back
to the 'centre after his stay in
the hospital. We are glad he
is feeling better and able to
help again.
