Sher° dies in hosp. at Palmerston Margaret Elizabeth Shera passed away at Palmerston and District Hospital on Thursday, June 25, in her 79th year. ` - Born near Drayton, she was the former Margaret Ellis. In 1926 'she married Victor Shera and resided in Gorrie .for many years., Later she and her husband moved to •a farm near Moorefield before retiring to Drayton. Surviving are her husband, Victor, a sister, Helen (Mrs. Harold Cock- burn) of Guelph, a niece, Mary (Mrs, . Walter Mc- Phail) of Toreq to, two ne- phews, Carl Ellis of Detroit, Michigan, and,Edwi.n Ellis of Orlando, Florida-. She was predeceased by three broth ers, .Allan, Campbell and Emerson. Mrs. Shera was a member of the Drayton United Church. For many years she was active in the UCW, the Women's Institute and other community groups. The funeral service was held at the Nesseth Funeral Home in Drayton on Saturday, June 27, with Rev. Penrose officiating. Pall- bearers were Millard Hammond, Sheldon Cosens, Grant Schieck, Lorne Bridge, Harry Bell ' and Douglas Hill born. Interment followed in Gorrie Cemetery. More than 40 physically disabled men and women will enjoy summer activities at two 11 -day sessions at the Ontario March of Dimes su- mmer camp for disabled adults this year. The camping program, now entering its 10th year of operation, is offered an- nually by the March of Dimes. This year, camps will be run at Sudbury, Claremont and Albion Hills, near Toronto. At summer camp, people with' disabilities of all kinds some quite severely limiting) will be able to try y many outdoor activities for the first time. Swimming, archery, corn roasts, overnight campouts and much more are offered because the emphasis at camp — as with all Ontario March of Dimes' services — is on, what disabled people can do. Citizenship trophies went to Denise Nethery and Randy Nixon; Karen Dunbar and Brian Wightman received con- geniality trophies. . Certi- ficates were presented to various students in recog- nition of their achievements in classroom and sports dur- ing the year. Ross Hamilton spoke to the ' graduates about the future. He said the computer is having a great effect on out lives and there are rapid changes in store in the future. Many things •in homes wiil ,be done by computer and we will be able to vacation space. Pupils of today will be operating and living with computers': , He said students must be willing to further their\ education beyond high school and be preparethto work at four or five different jobs during their lifetimes. The graduates are: Billie BAilie Cheryl Campbell, Tim Cotlltes, Jennifer Elston, Andrew Forest, Rebecca Gibbons, Robby Johnston, Anita Massey, Kyle Moran, Natasha Muscheid, Tara Newell, Mark Robinson, Jenna Ruttan, Michael Smith, Trisha Taylor and Richard Wattam. During the program the children did such activities - as: dancing, color plays, and Sing -songs. These all were related to things they had learned during the year. The program was amusing and everyone enjoyed the pre- sentation. The choir sang three songs under the direction of Mr. Chaulk. All in all, it was a great performance. By Veronica Bakelaar and Susan Elston SWIMMING Students from our school went swimming at the Wing - ham pool last Thursday. We were divided into three groups by dagger. When we • arrived at the pool we were divided into three cate- gories: 1. non -swimmers, 2. beginners, 3. experienced. There were three qualified instructors who went over the important rules of water safety and then they gave us a swimming lesson. After a while we were granted about 30 minutes for a free swim.
