Joint I he Fortune was born. ,Turnberry on April 27, 1903, a son of the late Georges Fortune and. Helen Hastings. He; was ' actively engaged in farming in Turnberry until 1977, then resided on Shuter Street, -Wingham, until 1979 when he :moved to Huroiview. Mr..F.ortune•was active in many organizations during his ;lifetime. He was an ac- tive member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church where he was an elder. He was a member of the - Wingham District High School board from the time it was organized until the county school board was formed and served two ,terms . as chairman. He was also active in the Hog.Producers' Association, the Soil and Crop Improvement Associa- tion, the Federation of Agri= culture and Gay Lea Foods. Mr. Fortune wars married to the'ornier Edna Gillnnson and was bereaved by her death in 1965. He is survived by two sons, Donald of Ariss and Douglas of Turnberry Township, and six grand- children. The late Leslie Fortune :rested at The Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham, until Saturday when service was -conducted at two o'clock by Rev. Dr. Robert H. Armstrong. Interment followed in Wingham Cemetery. He was borne to his last resting place by Bob McKKague, Barry Ireland, Brian McBurney, Mel Mathers, Oscar Kieffer and,' George Underwood. Flower bearers were Harry Mulvey and Jack McBurney. Inc., Win- dsor, Hamilton and Toronto, after 43 years with the company. He was a member of Wentworth Lodge No. 166 AF & AM, the Boy Scouts of Canada (50 years), the Anglican Church of the Redeemer, Stoney Creek, and the church choir. A Masonic service was conducted April 17 at 9 p.m. by Wentworth Lodge No. 166 AF & AM. Funeral service was held at the Church of the Redeemer, Stoney Creek, on Saturday, April 18; with Canon Wyatt and Pastor Bud Downey of Brampton of- ficiating. An honor guard of Scouts and full choir were in attendance. Interment was at Winona.
