Hullett wildlife area
Ducks Unlimited
(Canada) has recently
signed an agreement with
the Ontario Ministry of
Natural Resources to assist
in the development of the
Hullett Wildlife Manage-
ment Area, near Clinton.
Under terms of the
agreement the organization
will develop a series of ponds
and major impoundments on
the Crown -owned land within
the approximately 2,400 -
hectare site.
Actual management of the
area will be in accordance
with a master plan and will
be carried out under the
direction of the natural
resources manager for the
wildlife area.
The agreement assures
that this important' area will
be developed and main-
tained as a vital".wetland
area necessary for the
preservation of waterfowl
and other wildlife, Norm
Richar ds , Wingham district
manager for the MNR,
commented
Development of nine
satellite ponds currently is
progressing. Ducks
Unlimited (Canada) will
spend about $150,000 this
year in . development funds.
It is estimated an additional
$1 million may be spent by
that organization over the
next few year's to develop the
area for waterfowl
production.
In addition the ministry
will continue to develop the
upland ' habitat for many
additional species of wildlife.
Ducks Unlimited
(Canada) Is a branch of a
United . ' States based
waterfowl hunters'
organization dedicated to
preserving waterfowl
habitat and nesting areas.

Mrs. Mae Fisher of Car -
Former Bruv businessman

A former businessman in
the village of Brussels,
owner of a dry goods store in
that village for 35 years,
Albert Wood of 318,,Leapold
Street, Wingham, passed
away in Wingham and
District Hospital on Thur-
sday, August 21.
Mr. Wood was born in
Rochdale, Lancashire,
England, 84 years ago, on
April 12, 1896. He was a son
of the. late Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Wood. During his
years in Brussels, he was
active in the community,
being a charter member of
the Brussels Lions Club as
well as a member of the
Masonic Lodge in the
village.
His wife, the former Lilian
Jarman, predeceased him in
1977. He is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. William
(EJayne ). Rintoul • of
Wingharn; two sons, Bob of
San Pedro, California, and
Kenneth, Clinton; ' nine
grandchildren. and three
great grandchildren. He was
predeceased by one brother,
Charlie.
The late Albert Wood
rested at The Currie -Walker
Funeral Home, Wingham,
where friends paid their
respects until Saturday when
funeral and committal
service was conducted for
the immediate family by
Rev. K. Barry Passmore at
one o'clock. Following
cremation, Mr. Wood'sfinal
resting place will be
Brussels Cemetery.,
