address the ideas about
interest rates debated. at the
March meeting of provincial
directors. A protest march to
Ottawa by farmers had been
suggested.
High interest rates hit new
farmers who have recently
borrowed large amounts of
money for land and equipment
the hardest.With low pig and
cattle prices, these farmers
aren't able to pay their in-
terest costs.
There is some difference of
opinion among farmers across_
Canada whether interest rates
should be lowered overall or
just for farmers. But there is a
strong feeling in the agri-
cultural community that
farmers will have to be given
a break if they are to to con-
tinue to produce the food the
country needs.
All interested persons are
invited to attend the meeting,
which will be held in the Grey
Central School beginning at
8:30 p.m.
