Gibson home GORRIE—The Women's Institute met Wednesday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. Robert Gibson. President Mrs. Alvin Grainger opened the meeting with the Ode and Collect. Mrs. Robert Gibson, secretary - treasurer, read the minutes and correspondence and reminded the ladies of the spring rally to be held May 13 in Wroxeter. The Gorrie ladies will host the historical meeting on May 30'. The report of the nominating committee was - read by Mrs. Martin Scott and its contents will be reported in the April meeting report. Mrs. Melville Dennis commented on the information on hand regarding street name signs for Gorrie, which the Institute has been contemplating. The roll call, 'recollections of my first pay cheque aid what I did with, it', provided many amusing responses. Mrs: Scott introduced , Mrs'. Harvey Bradshaw, manager of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in • Wroxeter. A most interesting and informative talk detailing the types of accounts, legal information . and various aspects of banking brought questions from the members.. Mrs. Bradshaw was thanked by Mrs. Dennis and presented with a gift in appreciation of her very educational resume of banking, its facilities and dos and don'ts. An Irish contest, conducted by Mrs. Dennis, was won by Mrs. Gladstone Edgar. Mrs. Merrill Fisher and Mrs. Melvin Taylor tied for second. Lunch was served by Mrs. Alvin Grainger, Mrs. Dennis and the hotess. Shopping advice ared by, speaker BRUSSELS—Gerry Dellow, manager ,of the Royal Bank, Brussels, was guest speaker when the Brussels Senior. Friendship Club met in the Legion Hall on Wednesday afternoon of last week. Mr. Dellow spoke on financial and inflation problems of today, as well as giving infOrmation about investments, budgeting and credit cards. He then gave the members some good advice to follow when shopping, in- cluding living within one's credit, shopping around in various • places, thinking before one buys and taking advantage of sales. He also told them what to do if they should lose credit cards. • The meeting opened with the singing of '0 Canada' with Mrs. Lulu Kerr at the piano. A minute of silence was ob- served in memory of a former member, William Grasby. The club wag then en- tertained with musical selections by the Howard Smith, Archie Mann and Alf Nichol orchestra. The senior citizens really appreciate their wonderful music and .wish they could `still dance to it. Several games of progressive euchre were played with prizes for high scores going toMrs. Sadie McDonald and Mrs. Edna Hackwell. Low scores .were held by Mrs. Margaret Jacklin and Mrs. W. Turnbull and Mrs. Gertrude Bolger won the prize for the most lone hands. Lunch was served by the committee in charge. The next •meeting will be held Wed- neday, April 16. The finance committee reported that $1,300 of the $5,300 budget has already been raised through donations; it plans to raise as much of the budget as possible before the crusade begins. Rev. Bob Scott, chairman of the prayer committee, reported that 10 prayer cells have already been formed and will meet on a Weekly basis in the homes Of Mr.. and Mrs. Bill Aitken, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Campbell, Mrs. Valarie Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Freer, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Raithby, Mrs. Pauline Parsons, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Rolston- Mrs. Pat Niblock and Mrs. Evalena Webster.
