The seeds that were planted at the beginning of Lent are up. They stand for the new life we all receive at Easter. The new language program has started and so far it is really fun. The classroom has been rearranged by moving fur- niture and centres to new places. It really doesn't look like the old room anymore. Students now have full-length pictures of themselves up on the wall. They traced and cut out the pictures. They sure look different on the wall. GRADES AND 4 Grades 2 and 4 are preparing to take another step in life as a member of God's family. Grade 2 is preparing Sacred Heart Mailbox to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. Grade 4 is ready to re- ceive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Both sacraments will be received during the Easter season. To help in the preparation, a meeting for parents of the students involved will be held this Tuesday evening at the school. It will enable parents and teachers to work more closely in their role as teacher for example. GRADES 5 AND 6 A new unit in science has been started this week. It deals with trees and classes will be visiting many different areas out-of-doors to study the trees and how they affect people. Pupils are, finishing up their unit on Israel and they have learned a lot about the conflict taking place today in the Middle East. Friday's Joke Day was a big success as jokes were passed around the room and shared amongst students. GRADES 7 AND Hurray! Exams are over., The past two weeks have been rather tough and students are glad to get back to regular class and forget about studying for at least a month. They certainly are looking forward to the winter break. Report cards go home on Monday. For some this will be - fine, but for others, well we'll see.
